The betrayal
"Paulo my gee, what's up with you nigga? I've been calling your phone; you weren't picking up. That's why I had to come to check on you, my bro", Kaisy said to Paul, his college friend.
Paul was surprised to see Kaisy so concerned about him, he is always cold toward him. "I saw your calls and was planning to call back when I'm less busy. Hope no problem?", Paul asked.
"Come on, what's up with the attitude. I'm your closest pal, you know", Kaisy replied with a smile. What do you have in your kitchen, I'm starving", Kaisy further said.
Paul was sitting on his black leather cushion chair as he watched Kaisy head to the kitchen to check if there was food to eat. In order not to make Kaisy feel bad, he decided to give him a welcoming attitude after Kaisy returned from the kitchen with a plate of rice.
"You're a good cook, Paulo, this sauce goes well with the rice. My rich friend, you dy enjoy (you're enjoying)", Kaisy said as he stuffed rice in his mouth. My uncle is celebrating his birthday this weekend; I would love us to go together. At least we will show with your car, they will know I have a rich friend too", Kaisy said with a grin as he continued munching the rice.
"I knew there was something you came for, you're not always this nice. No problem, we'll go to the party. Is that all? Take it easy with the way you're eating bro", Paul said as he stood up to get Kaisy water.
Kaisy looked at him enviously and continued eating. On the day of the birthday party, Kaisy arrived at Paul's residence early in the morning where they ate and played chess before they set out for the party at 1pm in the afternoon.
"I'll drive pal, don't worry. Let me shine today", Kaisy said with a grin.
"Alright, man, enjoy, but please don't speed. I don't always enjoy your driving. You drive way too fast for my liking, ma pa mio( don't kill me)", Paul said to Kaisy, having a weird feeling with the way Kaisy had been grinning. He was feeling uneasy but yet decided to let Kaisy drive.
Kaisy grinned and started the journey, A few minutes into driving, they got to a place surrounded by a bush, and Kaisy parked the car, telling Paul he had a running stomach. Kaisy picked up the bottle of water he had taken from Paul's house earlier. Paul is a hardworking man, and he has a personal business of telecommunication, which has been doing well, whereas Kaisy is still struggling to secure a job and doesn't want to do a job with less pay because he believes he is a big boy who should be paid well. He has always been envious of Paul who takes every opportunity to improve himself and his business. Kaisy believes Paul is too full of himself and wants to teach him a lesson.
"I'll wait for you, but be fast, man; this place isn't good enough," Paul said.
"You're a coward, man; nothing will happen; give me a few minutes," Kaisy said and got down, and walked into the bush.
After ten minutes, Paul called out to him but couldn't hear him. He got out of the car and walked a little into the bush but saw no traces of Kaisy. He became afraid and contacted one of whom he considered a friend and shared his location. As he turned back to go into the car, Kaisy hit him with a club at the back of his head and that was the last thing Paul knew. Kaisy laughed hysterically, left Paul there, and drove away.
A friend whom Paul had shared location with called him severally but he didn't pick up. The friend became worried, contacted the police, and drove out following the location Paul shared. Fortunately, they got there and saw Paul lying unconscious with a blood stain on his shirt. They quickly rushed him to the hospital, where he was treated until he regained consciousness.
"Where is Kaisy? Is he okay? We were together. We were going to his uncle's birthday party", Paul explained.
"You were alone when we found you," the friend, who was later recognized as Daniel, said.
"My car, Kaisy drove. It wasn't an accident. He complained of a running stomach and excused himself for some minutes. I went to check on him and that was the last thing I remembered", Paul explained.
"It's okay, Mr. Paul; we will investigate and find out who tried to kill you and also locate Kaisy," the officer who was with them at the hospital said.
After two days, Paul was discharged from the hospital and was carried to his residence by Daniel and two police officers, only to hear loud music blaring from Paul's sound system in his living room. "Who could be in?" one of the police officers asked as they instructed Daniel and Paul to stay in the car while they pulled out their guns to check.
As they opened the door, they met Kaisy in the living room with two other friends drinking and partying in Paul's living room. Immediately, they were placed under arrest by the policemen while they were sent for reinforcement and were joined by two more officers. Paul was surprised to see Kaisy partying happily in his house while he was left to die. Kaisy and his friends were arrested and interrogated. Later, Kaisy's two friends were released while Kaisy was charged with attempted murder. He was sentenced to prison for some years, and in his statement, he said he was envious of Paul and that he wanted him gone so that he could inherit his business and live his life instead.
"I had an ill-at-ease feeling when he started being nice to me, but I didn't want to judge wrong, yet I was wrong; I could have known something was wrong. I've learned a lesson, and I'm grateful for still being alive. He got what he deserves, a man like him shouldn't be free to roam about", Paul said when he was called in to give his statement and hear Kaisy's confession.

Hello @rare-gem. Kaisy is indeed a sinister character. He is devious and has malicious intent.
We note that you have not engaged with other authors. We have curated your content, but the curation rewards were reduced--as is our practice. Please remember this as you share stories with us in the future.
Thank you.
I couldn't find posts to engage in as I was the first to drop my link that's why
If you check, you will see my link is the only link submitted early
jealousy can easily corrupt any form of friendship, no matter how close it is.
You're right and that led to Kaisy's downfall
What a story that was, yes, one of the poison-inflicted on mankind is jealousy and envy.
A native say will state," The goodwill does not die in the replacement of the bad though the goodwill may suffer pains inflicted by the bad".
Lucky Paul!!
Thanks for the story and have a good week ahead.

So not all favours are really favour. Nice story.
The guy is a betrayal and not a good person, someone like that should be avoided.
