Learning never ends: A journey to my lost but found treasure

Learning never ends, and this is one of life's hacks. The day one stops learning, such an individual literally begins to die. There are some skills we need in life, but we never pay attention to because we thought we wouldn't need them, but no one can say when a need for them would arise. As an entrepreneur, I have always loved to try new things irrespective of where I find myself. I am always open to learning new things because I believe no knowledge is wasted.

It's Monday, and it's considered a money day. Life as a student isn't easy at all, especially as a finalist. These few weeks have been hectic for me with my project laboratory procedures, but then I plan my time every day to make sure I am online to perform my duty as a hiver. I had to be in school as early as 8am for money lectures and, in between, had some time to cool off before afternoon lectures. This cooling off is not as free as you might think; I would surely be busy with one or two school work, either writing my practical manual or drafting out some journals for my project.

As busy as my day may seem, I always create time for the entrepreneurship spirit in me to act out some skills. While discussing with a sister on this blockchain, I came to realize that there is no age too old to learn a new skill. I wonder why some say they can't learn new skills due to age. I've always wanted to learn tailoring, but then I said since I couldn't learn it when I was younger, I can't learn it again, not knowing there would come a time when the skill would be useful for me. Now I wish I had learned it when I was younger and even when I had the time unlike now when I'm a bit busy. Then I thought of something simpler I could do in my leisure time. My sister then shared an idea with me, and guess what? It was a skill I would have learned when I was as young as six years old.

Crocheting is one of the great skills that has been in existence for decades. I could remember while growing up with my grandmother (maternal). She knits beautifully. I remember her telling me that the sweater, cap, gloves, socks, and shawls I used when I was a baby was knitted by my grandmother. While growing up, in the evening, she would sit outside with yarns of different colors and hooks,s, knitting different clothing materials. She always asked me to try, but I never had an interest; I thought it was something for old people like my grandma even though I wished I could knit like her.

Hive has been a blessing to me for the past two years. I wanted to learn new skills and showcase them on this platform as it is a platform of opportunities. I've seen several people show their skills and talents and it is a beautiful thing to behold. I had a brown color knitted sweater she made for me then but I later had to give it out as I have outgrown it. I cherished it so much but I had to let it go. When the discussion about crocheting surfaced, I immediately remembered how I used to watch my grandma knit back then. Now, I suddenly want to be able to do that, too. Recently, I was surfing TikTok when I saw beautiful knitted shorts and singlets that I can wear while in my room. Likewise, sexy gowns that I can wear out on picnics, hangouts, pool parties, and lots more. I felt bad that I couldn't make one for myself, which I would have learned when I had the chance. If not, I thought it wasn't for my age. To me then, I thought it was a waste of time unknown to me that no knowledge is a waste even if I'm not using it as a source of income. It would be useful to me one way or the other in the journey of life.

Luckily for me, I have a friend who is into crocheting. I once asked her how much she would make a short and singlet for me, and she said #15,000. I then imagined myself knitting my desired shorts myself, and this is one of the things that pushed me to want to learn crocheting myself instead of paying so much for what I can learn and make. Thanks to technology and civilization, I can undergo virtual classes and learn basis then begin to develop myself gradually. Immediately I contacted my friend to find out where I could buy quality yarns and hooks. She gave me the address, and I went there.

On getting there, I met different colors of yarn that were enticing, but unfortunately, I couldn't buy all because I'm not too financially buoyant at the moment. Instead, I got just two beautiful colors for a start and a hook. As I advance, I will definitely go for more beautiful colors to produce beautiful clothing materials which I will be showcasing here from time to time. I'm positive about this new skill as there is no giving up in my dictionary, once I can see it, I can definitely handle it. I hope I get the support and encouragement I need from other crocheters who have advanced in level than I am. I understand I might fail at the beginning, but for me, failure is not a death sentence; it is a success booster. Join me as this new skill unfolds what I can do, the hidden talent in me all this while.

At a point in this Adulthood journey, you'll realize that you need every knowledge you can get and none is a waste but a blessing that is yet to be showcased. Once again, a big thank you to Hive and my onboarder, who showed me the path to a future brighter than I can imagine. It's going to be a great time from now henceforth as I will be dedicated to this newfound skill of mine; it will be worth the wait and the effort I will be putting into it. I would love to see your words of encouragement and support. It's good to be back in this wonderful community.

That's a great decision,I wish I had learned that too when I was younger but thank God I went into sewing and I'm so glad I did. I wish you the best in your learning process.
