Jara's weakness

"Why is Jara always taking the award of the best singer? She had taken it four consecutive times, and here I am, still struggling to win one. I have been nominated only twice; does that mean I can't match up to her?" Tira asked her assistant Kate as they sat in the auditorium where the award ceremony took place and watched Jara give her speech after collecting the award again this year.

"You are a good boss, better than Jara. I'm sure she is paying the organizers to give her the award. She doesn't deserve it; we all know that. Even the fans know she isn't the right person for the award", Kate said to Tira who was fuming with anger.

"She is always acting high and mighty like she has no flaws or weaknesses. Everyone sees her as perfect, and have you seen the growth in her fan base?" Tira asked Kate.

"Yes boss, most of her fans are teenagers who are inexperienced and naive. She doesn't have a mature mind as a fan. You have nothing to worry about", Kate assured Tira.

"Get me such fans, too; what are you guys doing? I'm not seeing any progress in my fan base. You guys should create something that will draw those naive teenagers to me. Don't you know they are the ones moving the market?", Tira lashed at Kate.

"And finally, I want to say a big thank you to my fans, you all are my backbone. Thanks for always supporting me, I promise you another year of good songs. Thank you for voting for me again this year. I am super grateful", Jara concluded raising her award up.

"Can you hear that, I want a meeting with the manager and all the crew, schedule a meeting. Stop messing around and put me in the limelight", Tira said as she rose up to congratulate Jara who was coming to her seat.

"Congratulations Jara, I'm happy for you", Tira said with a hug.

"Thanks, Tira, you are next", Jara said with a smile.

"Can you imagine she's telling me I'm next? That's after she has taken it four times in a row?", Tira complained to her assistant as she headed out of the venue, faking a smile for those greeting her.

Tira held a meeting with her crew the following morning, leashing out her anger and displeasure on why Jara is the one collecting the award for four years now. The crew all sat to think of a way forward and they came up with a plan that Tira should organize a small giveaway to give out foodstuffs to the less privileged individuals. She agreed to it as it would be a means of getting people to know her and be her fans.

Just as planned, Tira gave out money and foodstuffs to people in some local areas, and the social media was buzzing with her name. She immediately released a song saying how it's good to help and put a smile on people's faces. Immediately, her fan base grew as people were streaming her songs. She felt on top of the world and was relaxed that she was finally at the game with Jara.

A few weeks after the award celebration, Jara released a song to appreciate everyone who supported her and showed her heartfelt gratitude. Just as expected, people started streaming Jara's song comparing it with Tira. Since the increase in Tira's fan base, she has been monitoring social media closely to make sure she is still at the game with Jara.

"Kate, have you seen how people are streaming Jara's newly released song? Promote my song; I shouldn't have to tell you that", Tira lashed out at Kate.

"Why is she always shouting? Am I the genesis of her misfortune? I'm tired of working for her if not for the pay, I would just resign", Kate said to herself as she went out of Tira's sight.

"Kate, Kate!", Tira shouted.

"Yes, boss, I came running immediately I heard you calling. I was trying to call the manager", Kate explained to Tira.

"You are not active as I expected, there should be a way to get to Jara. Move close to her or any of her workers, let us know her weakness, and use it to our advantage. You aren't smart at all; as my assistant, you should know what to do without me telling you, but no, you enjoy seeing me struggle", Tira said.

"No, ma, why would I love seeing you struggle? I am working on it. I know very soon you will be at the top chart and be known as the best female in the music industry", Kate assured Tira.

Tira looked at Kate sternly as she hissed and headed to her room.

"Will I go about and be looking for someone's weaknesses. How did this woman think? But then I have to do it for the pay. How am I going to pull this off now? I hope I don't land behind bars", Kate said to herself.

Fortunately, the following week was Jara's birthday. She organized a party for her friends and colleagues in the industry to celebrate with her, but Tira didn't attend; instead, ad she sent her assistant Kate to represent her.

On getting there, Kate was allowed access to the venue because she possessed a card that was used as a pass for invited guests. She walked up to Jara to felicitate with her.

"Hello, you must be Tira's assistant; I've seen you with her for quite some time. Where is she?", Jara asked.

"Yes, I am, my name's Kate. Tira couldn't make it; she had an engagement, so she sent me instead", Kate explained.

"Oh, it's fine. Nice meeting you, kindly have your seat. You are welcome", Jara said with a smile.

Kate was placed beside Jara's table, she was well attended to as she was served a delicious meal. As the party was on, Jara was busy greeting the attendees and showing her gratitude for honoring her invitation. After doing that, she sat with her friends as they were having fun. Kate was trying her best to eavesdrop on their conversations. She was paying close attention to every discussion they were making.

A plate of food was brought for Jara, but instead, she told the server to take it back. Kate was wondering why Jara did that, she listened patiently to find the reason behind that decision.

"You aren't hungry? Or you've been so stressed?" one of Jara's friends named Kassy asked.

"She can't eat outside, not now", another friend named Sia replied.

"That's right, I've forgotten, I thought she had been eating well now. Sorry about that baby", Kassy said.

"After the throat surgery, I really can't eat just anything. I have some specific food I eat which I was strictly warned to get used to and not eat anything else to avoid stories that touched the heart. I'm always scared to eat outside, I don't want to lose my life yet, and you know how the outside world can be if such a thing gets out", Jara replied with a smile.

"Celebrity lifestyle is sure a very difficult one; I'm sure you will get through it," Sia said confidently.

"Oh, so she had throat surgery and she's scared of what her fans would say if they got to know. That's our kryptonite; wow, I finally found a way to get to her, but wait, Is it worth it? If I report this to Tira, she will surely publish it and Jara's career will be at risk. Do I have to ruin her life to make Tira's better? No, I'll keep this to myself and keep working hard to make Tira have her fanbase rather than destroying Jara's life", Kate said to herself as she continued enjoying the delicious food she was served.

On getting back to Tira's house, Kate narrated to her how the event went, excluding the part where she now knew Jara's weaknesses. She advised Tira to be more friendly with her colleagues in the industry as many of them graced Jara's birthday party. Kate promised Tira that she would do her best to make Tira also a celebrated diva in the music industry.
