Creating happiness is individual's responsibility

I've always said that happiness is a personal decision; you can't expect others to make you happy. First of all, you have to make yourself happy and be self-prioritizing; this is what will attract others to you and determine if they will add to your happiness or not. But in a case where you are not happy with yourself and you are expecting others to be your source of happiness, that's where you get it all wrong.

As humans, being sad is inevitable. There are times when things will not go our way, and this will bring us down. How we handle this phase of our lives is what determines how well we can manage those times when they come.

In my sad times, truth be told, there are times I would want to be alone, away from every one of my loved ones, not because I don't love them anymore but because I do much believe in self-evaluation. Checking oneself up to see where one has missed it or taken the wrong steps, whatever your decision is, is what others will support, so that is very important and necessary.

Too much dwelling in sadness can lead one into depression, and that is the worst phase in anyone's life. Recently, a family friend of ours has been going through some challenges in her marriage due to her husband's infidelity. She is a happy woman; she always carries a bright countenance, and when one is happy, it will surely show in her physical outlook. She isn't fat, but she is not thin either. But suddenly, she started deflating, as in reducing in weight drastically, everyone was worried about her, thinking she had one internal disease or so, until we got to know the pain she had been concealing in her. At this point, she needs to be happy, if not happy, because depression is knocking on her door so closely.

As for me, I have never allowed my sad times to lead to depression; no matter how sad I am, music is always an antidote for me. Before dwelling so much on that sad phase, I would have quickly switched to music, which would ease my pain and take away every one of my worries at that time. This is why songs with good lyrics that pass positive messages across to the listener are always one of the best ways to treat sadness.

Secondly, if I'm sad and I'm to stay away from my loved ones, I don't think I can do that for long. I can't go 24 hours without talking to my loved ones. There will be someone who has the right words for my present situation at that time. Once I'm able to speak to one or two of the people I cherish so much, then I'm fine. There will surely be words of encouragement that will ease the burden one feels at that particular time, and these two ways have always been my antidotes for sadness, and they have always helped me.

Thanks for your time, and your comments will be appreciated.

Every individual have different ways of solving these times to remain happy. We owe it to ourselves to be happy and not depending on anyone for that. Happiness is a personal decision.
