A simple brallet for myself: My crochet journey so far
The journey of a thousand miles surely begins with a step. About a month ago, I began my crochet journey, at first ot seemed like I wasn't going to get hold of it as it's something I'm trying for the first time even though my grandma is good at it. It was a skill I considered to be old-fashioned until my eyes were opened to it through a friend. Then I realized it's not only for oldies and no knowledge is a waste. As a lover of knowledge, I got the tools and materials needed for a beginner class. I couldn't get a physical teacher to put me through, so I learnt via YouTube videos. It was at first, a process of trial and error. I made several mistakes, but I never gave up.
From a tiny chain, I gradually taught myself how to build on it. I made a crochet necklace for myself as a beginner, it wasn't perfect, but I was glad I did it all by myself. As a student, I run a daily tight schedule but I tried my best to create a time to improve on my newfound skill. I wanted more, and I believed I could do it. I intensified my effort by watching more videos and putting them to work, making several mistakes in the process. After many trials, I was able to crochet a headband for my baby sister, and that was when I learned the different kinds of crochet patterns. For the headband, I made use of half double crochet, and it turned out beautifully; all these can be found in my previous posts.
I wanted more, but then time became not enough as my final year examinations are around the corner. I wanted to knit a brallet for myself which took longer than expected because of my tight schedule. I started it two weeks ago and along the way, my yarn got exhausted. I couldn't get a place where yarns are being sold in my area, and I wasn't going to town where I could easily get it until I was given a description of a possible place where I could get it. I got it and I began my work from where I stopped and just completed it last night. One thing I've learnt is that consistency is one of the important keys to success. A lot of businesses failed today, not because they are careless, but because they couldn't stay consistent.
I might not use crocheting in the professional world but then I can make simple things for myself at home and use them for my convenience. The little step I took then is gradually yielding a positive result and one of the things that helped me was the positive-minded people I surrounded myself with. They never stop encouraging me, their support was like I'm in a competition, and I must come out victorious. Anyone who stops learning would literally die of ignorance That's why I so much cherish the acquisition of knowledge irrespective of one's field of study. My brallet came out well and I'm happy I achieved that. I'm now thinking about the next project to embark on, I'm sure you'll want to have a look. Your comments and support are a heads-up for me and that's why I erased giving up from my dictionary.
