Sri Lanka’s Middle-Order Collapse Costs Them the Tri-Series Final

Peace be Upon you all, ✨

This year Pakistan played several series on their Home ground, most recently against Bangladesh, New Zealand and Sri Lanka. And after these series, Now T20 Tri Series played tbetween Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
‎On 29th of December, the Final of the Pakistan T20 Tri Series was played between Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, in Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Pakistani Bowlers outclassed Sri Lankan batsmen and won the Series.

Brief Match Summary:

‎Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first.
‎Shaheen Shah Afridi from Pakistan managed to strike early. The first victim was Pathum Nissanka, who scored 11 runs.
‎Kamil Mishra once again played a beautiful knock and along with Kusal Mendis managed to build ahat help partnership of 64 runs. At this point Sri Lanka looked good for 170 runs, but Pakistani spinners played a crucial role in breaking the set partnership and took some back-to-back wickets.
‎Saim Ayub managed to break the partnership and after that wickets fell like leaves. Sri Lanka managed to score a low total of 114 runs only in 19.1 Overs.

‎All-rounder Muhammad Nawaz was the top pick from the bowlers, taking 3 important wickets in his 4 overs for 17 runs. Impressive figures once again. Shaheen Shah Afridi took 3, Abrar Ahmad took 2, and Saim Ayub and Salman Mirza managed to get 1 wicket each.

In response, ‎Pakistan confidently started its innings with openers Saim Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan. Both delivered an opening stand of 42 runs. A couple of small partnerships helped Pakistan chase the small target easily. Babar Azam played a beautiful drive for 4 and finished the match in the 19th over, with 6 wickets in hand.
‎Babar Azam, Saim Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan played knocks of 37, 36 and 23 runs respectively.

‎Paven Rathnayake took 2 wickets in his 2-over spell. Wanindu Hasaranga and Eshan Malinga both took 1 wicket each.

Man of the Match and Series:

‎Man of the Match reward goes to Muhammad Nawaz for his beautiful performance, 3 wickets for 17 runs in his 4 overs.
‎Man of the Series reward also goes to Muhammad Nawaz for his excellent performance in the series. He bowled 18 overs and took 10 wickets.

Impressive New Players:

‎Some young players really impressed in this series with bat and ball. One of them is Opening Batsman Kamil Mishra, who delivered in almost every game, especially in the last two games against Pakistan. He scored fifties in both matches against Pakistan and scored 169 runs in the series, 2nd highest in the series after Sahibzada Farhan. Although he has not played many international games yet, he showed his class against a good bowling attack. I think he can play a major role in the Sri Lankan cricket team in coming years.
Opening Batsman from ‎Sahibzada Farhan also performed well in this series. He scored 2 fifties and a total of 191 runs in the series.

Final Thoughts:

‎The T20 World Cup event is near, and in the last 2 months overall Pakistan played good cricket. Pakistan still has a few games to play before the big event. They still need a lot of improvement as a team, but I hope players will carry the winning momentum and start the World Cup with high energy.

‎That's all for today.

In young age, I also used to play cricket and was a hard core cricket follower, and never missed any single Pakistan Match for almost 12 years But now, only follow news and highlights.
