Running in the rain
Hi all, welcome back to my running blog!
Today I did a shorter run during the dancing class from my oldest daughter.
While there was some rain during the run, I enjoyed the run quite a bit. I try to run regardless of the weather - a little or heavy rain, snow or loads of sun we can just pick suitable clothing for that. The only exception is thunderstorms as the Netherlands is very flat and I run alot in open fields - so I won’t be running with thunder. Today was just some rain and my running cap prevented the rain from getting in my face.
Today’s run was not a specific pace, just a run where I could reflect and plan in my mind while moving at a fun tempo. One of the things I was considering how to prepare for the 2026 Jungfrau marathon (as that is a mountain marathon and I live where there no hills in the area’s let alone mountains). My plan sofar will be Erasmus Bridge repeats, Stairmasters and extra strenght sessions combined with a few ultra runs to prepare for the longer race duration. Where I normally train 6-9h a week for a marathon I expect to do 9-12h in the block near Jungfrau.
For now, just a fun short run. That brings my weekly total to 40km sofar. Tomorrow I will run my sunday morning long run where I will start experimenting with more elevation gains - most likely doing bridge climb repeats.
Happy running!

You have to train in different scenarios, a tremendous challenge to train for the mountains in a flat place. Best regards
