Alternative Space - 01 The start of the pulse / Music&Story prod. by @rahipro

A very deep silence took over the Earth after the catastrophe, it seemed almost eternal. Cities destroyed, oceans poisoned, skies darkened, no one could say exactly the magnitude of the tragedy, but it was something to worry about. There were many years during which the survivors lived under the shadow of a world incapable of sustaining them. The day had to come when the option of abandoning the planet was the only solution. It was time to head for the unknown.

Un silencio muy profundo se apoderó de la Tierra después de la catástrofe, parecía casi eterno. Ciudades destruidas, océanos envenenados, cielos oscurecidos, nadie podía decir con exactitud la magnitud de la tragedia, pero si era para preocuparse. Fueron muchos años durante los cuales los sobrevivientes vivieron bajo la sombra de un mundo incapaz ya de sostenerlos. Tuvo que llegar el día donde la opción de abandonar el planeta era la única solución. Era el momento de tomar rumbo a lo desconocido.

Day and night they worked tirelessly in the subway hangars hidden from the storm and air pollution. It was there that the Space Arks were born, ships of immense size capable of transporting communities into outer space. Humanity's heartbeat was safe, each machine carefully designed to keep them alive. The engineers named them “Iron Hearts” because every time a nuclear reactor was turned on it vibrated a pulse similar to that of a human heart.

Se trabajó día y noche sin descanso en los hangares subterráneos ocultos de la tormenta y la contaminación del aire. Allí fue donde nacieron las Arcas Espaciales, naves de un tamaño inmenso capaces de transportar comunidades hacia el espacio exterior. Los latidos de la humanidad estaban seguros, cada maquina fue diseñada cuidadosamente para mantenerlos vivos. Los ingenieros las nombraron “Los corazones de hierro” porque cada vez que un reactor nuclear se encendía vibraba un pulso parecido al de un corazón humano.

The big day was memorable. All the communities gathered around the launch pads watching as the ships illuminated a dying horizon with their powerful lights. Total silence filled the surroundings and only the mechanical “pulse” could be heard announcing the beginning of a journey of no return. It was not simply the sound of the engines starting the Arks, that pulse represented the confirmation of a humanity in constant struggle to survive and still breathing.

El gran día fue memorable. Todas las comunidades se reunieron alrededor de las plataformas de lanzamiento observando como las naves iluminaban con sus potentes luces un horizonte moribundo. Un silencio total poblaba los alrededores y solo se escuchaba el “pulso” mecánico que anunciaba el inicio de un viaje sin regreso. No era simplemente el sonido de los motores poniendo en marcha las Arcas, ese pulso representaba la confirmación de una humanidad en constante lucha por sobrevivir y que aun respiraba.

“Begin the heartbeat,” said Commander Rachel, the lead voice for all crewmembers to follow. Those words that became a mantra echoed loudly over the loudspeakers.

“Comienza el latido”, dijo la comandante Rachel, la voz líder a seguir por todos los tripulantes. Esas palabras que se convirtieron en mantra resonaron fuertemente por los altavoces.

Inside the spacecraft, all was joy and satisfaction for a successful liftoff. Everyone hugged each other as they watched through the window as the Earth slowly drifted away. A tear or two ran down their cheeks, but the hope of finding a better place was much greater. That past was left behind with every kilometer that took them away from a polluted atmosphere and a destroyed planet. An uncertain future, but a new energy with good vibes was felt.

En el interior de la nave todo era alegría y satisfacción por un despegue exitoso. Todos se abrazaban mientras observaban por la ventanilla como la Tierra se alejaba lentamente. Una que otra lagrima corría por las mejillas, pero la esperanza de encontrar un lugar mejor era mucho mas grande. Ese pasado quedaba atrás con cada kilometro que los alejaba de una atmosfera contaminada y un planeta destruido. Un futuro incierto, pero se sentía una nueva energía con buenas vibras.

The journey was not without its doubts, especially in the early days. Many questioned the possibility of surviving in space. Others wondered if there was another habitable planet. But when the main reactor reached full power, that low, steady pulse began to make itself felt. It was a reminder that they were alive and that was enough to keep them going.

El viaje no estuvo exento de dudas, sobre todo en sus inicios. Muchos cuestionaban la posibilidad de sobrevivir en el espacio. Otros se planteaban si existiese otro planeta habitable. Pero cuando el reactor principal llegó a su máxima potencia, aquel pulso grave y constante comenzó hacerse notar. Era el recordatorio que estaban vivos y eso es suficiente para continuar.

It was a first few weeks of disorientation and discovery. Many became ill because their bodies were not accustomed to prolonged weightlessness. The communities, as a method of adaptation, improvised training capsules to float, exercise routines anchored to metal walls, cultivation of algae to provide oxygen, among other activities.

Fueron unas primeras semanas entre desorientación y descubrimiento. Muchos se enfermaron pues sus cuerpos no estaban acostumbrados a la ingravidez prolongada. Las comunidades, a método de adaptación improvisaron capsulas de entrenamiento para flotar, rutinas de ejercicios anclados a paredes metálicas, cultivo de algas para proveer de oxígeno entre otras actividades.

The pulse continued, every night and every day. The rhythm of that artificial heart was as if the universe was marking the compass they had to follow in order not to forget that even if the Earth had died, they could be reborn. Thus begins the journey and the heartbeat of humanity “The Start of the pulse”.

El pulso continuaba, cada noche y cada día. El ritmo de ese corazón artificial era como si el universo les estuviera marcando el compas que debían seguir para no olvidar que aunque la Tierra hubiera muerto ellos podrían renacer. Así comienza la travesía y el latido de la humanidad “The Start of the pulse”.
