Thinking of Solace vs. the steps taken to find solace.

Almost all of us think of the Solace and want to live peacefully. It's true that nobody wants to live in stress and anxiety. Mental health and all related topics are trending topics and are hot discussions between people. I also have the same discussion with my friend that there is so much anxiety and stress in life that he needs to eat medicine to come to the office as he is facing sleepless nights and experiencing pain in the body.

I have a conversation regarding the situation that if we sell all our assets (that is primarily the house that cost a fortune in a metropolitan city) and move to a smaller city, we can have almost 3 houses of same size in that smaller city and we can rent out 2 house to generate the rental income and one in which we can live and of course we will not earning that much money in job in the smaller city but our living expenses will be less and we have a rental income of 2 house to supplement our income. Plan look logical but I got the reply that why we should migrate from a bigger city to a smaller city.

So actual reasoning is that moving to smaller city is not a feasible option even though it will be cheaper and might give more personal time. Overall, I rarely find anyone who agrees with reverse migration. One of the actual reasoning is that after experiencing the lifestyle and luxury of a metropolitan city, they can not go to small cities where they will not have the same facilities that are available here.

In my mind, I thought that "thinking of solace" is now totally different than working for solace. People are thinking that they will be able to create balance in life but in reality they are working in the direction that will be going to create more imbalance.

In my opinion, Solace is not a "commodity" that you can buy, it is more like feeling of satisfaction in life. Most of the stress that we cause to ourselves is due to our desire and chasing of the goals that really put us in the tough spots. If we are satisfied then we will be not stressing and pushing ourselves to an extent that start causing the bodily discomfort.

So I think we talk about solace but do not want to give up luxury, are dissatisfied with so many things, and do not want to take a step back.

So, I guess we are happy to think about it but in reality we are least prepared to give up on our lifestyle and desires for actually "finding the solace".

And I ask you, what's a consolation for you? And don't tell me having a family, because I already know that and I know you're very lucky with it, but I want you to answer me what's a consolation for you.

I can say it's health and mental peace. commuting for 3-4 hours daily and keep getting tough deadlines bring lot of stress. With all the lay off news, it simply add to anxiety.
I am just wondering (actually quite serious) why not leave metropolitan and MNC life and do something in the small city.
!PIZZA !LOL

I did it, change the hustle and bustle of the city to that of a village, and I tell you it's wonderful

I think it depends, but I agree that the city tends to be way more convenient. I think that moving out after your retiring is fine, but while your working and networking with others, I don't think giving up your lifestyle helps that much unless you are tight on your budget.

Maybe the same reason that no one want to move out but in many case moving out will give supplemental income but need to find an alternate job that might require unlearn and learn.
