Three Tune Tuesday #226 .:. from iphone's playlist shuffle

For my #ttt blog this week I selected three songs from my yesterday's apple iphone's shuffle. I wasnt very happy about the songs transitions, most of them didnt turn a smooth matches or intresting contrasts, except of maybe these few which I liked... but its a dark music, be warned! No fancy videos today to entertain you; the songs mostly instrumentals with less lyrics, and I am up with that. (No false dated sucked-up rock cliches at all - thats why this music sounds fresh and powerful to me...) So, worth your attention: Kimmo Pohjonen, Do Make Say Think, Tom Waits.

Kimmo Pohjonen — Kalmukki

(official video; from «Kielo» LP, 1999)

I already presented you this Finnish accordeon virtuoso in my previous posts. DOnt want to talk much about his music - it is self explanatory, all is packed inside. The song is from his first album «Kielo» (1999).

Do Make Say Think — The Universe!

(from «You You're A History In Rust» LP, 2007)

This tune is from my least favourite band's recording (I prefer two first LPs rather than the following ones), but they house brilliant tunes anyway. This one is from their 5th album released at the famouse Canadian indie/post-rock label 'Constellation'.

There also exist a live recording of it released on tour-live-souvenir-EP, - its a recording from CBC Radio 3 session. It is exactly the version that I have in my iphone, which I listened to and which I'd wanted to share - in my opinion it is superior to the studio version; but, huh, seems it was not possible to get it on with Youtube, so I went with the official studio one. Do listen to it. Think and make a decision for yourself what it is about (no lyrics included). To me it sounds as complex as life, and - maybe - goes well together with imaginary picture of expanding universe. Or maybe its a shrinking universe dying at the end of time? up to you and your mind.

NB. While cooking the blog I also found this video with more or less recent performance of the song at Zepp Shinjuku, Japan. Gives a good idea of how the guys perform it live.

Tom Waits — Starving in a Belly of a Whale

(from «Blood Money» LP, 2002)

«Blood Money» was a brilliant Tom Waits recording for me, I enjoyed its lyrics a lot and added a decent amount of tunes to my favourites folder. Man's a fiddle that life plays on. If you live in hope you're dancing to a terrible tune, etc etc etc. You want it darker? dont search any further.

I hope you enjoyed today's music selection, and travelling around the globe without leaving the Hive. 😎 The post goes for Three Tune Tuesday challenge run by @ablaze. Weird and funny, my first impression with the first songs. This is my first time hearing it. It's an interesting one. Second songs sounds good esp the intro! Same with the third, like its amazing how they let us hear more the instrument. They sound so beautiful and cool. My fav the last song though. The vocal sounds so cool!

Waits is a great artist and has a lot of goodies for us. Treasures and more treasures! (awaiting for you, if you feel you're on the same wave with him).
