Three Tune Tuesday #220
For this week #ttt I pick up three less known indie artists from 2000-es era, and three tracks, all are great in its own way. So, worth your attention: CocoRosie, Clap your hands say yeah, Okkervill River.
Okkervill River - You Can't Hold the Hand of a Rock and Roll Man
Cant say much, never was into this band and did not try to find any info about the artist -- but this track clicked with me so much, that I almost found myself dissociated in this tune.
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - The Skin of my Yellow Country Teeth
Long track - 6 mins with a tail - I never get bored of listening to. It appeared on band's debut LP in 20005, and for its 20th anniversary got an official video in 2025. "A celebration for the incompatible and the base models of all things, human and machine”, as its director filmmaker David Helman put it. A piece of life as it is, with no hidden meanings between the lines - only what you can put into these frames yourself. People of the early digital era, when no one thought about digital detox yet (well, probably... that's not exactly!) I don't know what this song is about, never tried to find the original English lyrics. Maybe someone can tell me?..
Another intresting indie artist that you might be not in the know yet, from 2000-es era: CocoRosie. It is actually an American duo based in France, formed by sisters Bianca “Coco” Leilani and Sierra “Rosie” Casady back in 2003. Sierra mainly plays guitar, piano, harp and does the vocals while Bianca sings and manipulates various tricky electronics, percussion instruments, toys and other exotic noisemakers; the finishing result is pretty Dadaistic, thats why I included a link to live version of the song. I hope one of three links will work - you should see how this music is being created and fertilized by the artistic energy and creativity of both sisters.
Coco Rosie - Japan (Live)
And this one is even bigger: 7 minutes! including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra piece (dont skip it please).
...and studio version.
Life is like a rollercoaster
It does flips and throws you over
Board your ship that's going nowhere
If you stop, you'll end up somewhere
Everybody wants to go to Japan
Everybody wants to go to Japan
Everybody wants to go to Japan
Everybody, just hold hands
I hope you enjoyed today's music selection, and travelling around the globe without leaving the Hive. 😎 The post goes for Three Tune Tuesday challenge run by @ablaze. Hans Zimmer , Neelix , Tiesto , Vangelis , Art of noise , Dire Straits , Jean michel Jare , Level 42 , Rolling Stones , Queen , every moment of the day something else
Aha... well, I see. We share love to Queen, Vangelis, Art of noise, Jean Michel Jarre and Dire Straits, but cant say these names are in the 1st row for me. At one point I was a big fan of Dire Straights, but the feeling gone, I found their music pleasurable but not moving anywhere, always the same :P Hans Zimmer ofc is great too.
Have a great day! and here is a slice of !PIZZA for your morning coffee.
