let me share with you three exceptional tracks that randomly brightened up my day yesterday. The mix turned out very eclectic, I don't think these songs go well together, no; but maybe you'll like it this way?.. and I'll be happy if you discover new (old) names. You deserve it! So, worth your attention: Agatha Kristie, Lou Reed, Therion.

None of the songs has an official music video - thats a shame! but thats life...

The song's title can be translated as 'The Revolution Demands'; it became the first single of the band's new album back in 2004, and shocked a lot of listeners, even became censored on the airplay (DJs were masking the word "virgin's hymens"). Not very intricate musically, but certainly very energetic and driving, the song left its solid mark in music history, becoming an anthem of sexual protest against bourgeois values. Was it really serious at all? or was it a bit of self-parody? I don't know... the band members did not reveal the secrets of their kitchen. Epatage must be serious! No explanations or details can be involved.

Название песни можно перевести как 'Due to the Revolution demands'; песня стала первым синглом нового альбома группы в далеком 2004-м году, и эпатировала многих слушателей, даже подверглась радио-цензуре (диджеи маскировали слово "целки"). Не сильно затейливая в музыкальном плане, но конечно очень драйвовая, песня оставила свой след в вечности, став гимном сексуального протеста против буржуазных ценностей. Насколько она серьезна? не явилась ли она само-пародией? не знаю... участники группы не раскрыли секреты своей кухни. Эпатаж есть эпатаж! никакие объяснения и детализация тут неуместны.

Therion - The rise of Sodom and Gomorrah

I don't want to make certain explanations and descriptions considering this song - it's all out there, self-explanatory, even without lyrics... and it's not that long, 6 1/4 minutes - it's shorter than Bohemian Rhapsody, so you can bear it somehow! But I don't recommend listening to it in skip-mode, you won't get anywhere. It's a real symphony after all. Metal symphony.

Я не хочу говорить об этой песне - все находится у нее внутри. Она не такая уж и длинная, всего 6 минут с хвостиком - она меньше чем Богемская Рапсодия. Уж как-нибудь вытерпите! Но перематывать не рекомендую, ничего не почувствуете. Все-таки это настоящая симфония!

Lou Reed - Wagon Wheel

One of my Top-100 albums to bring to the desert island is Lou Reed's 'Transformer'. Not all the songs on this record are equal for me - of course not, of course they have different effects and impact on me. Wagon Wheel, Vicious, Hangin 'Round, I'm So Free, Perfect Day, Satellite of Love, Goodnight Ladies -- impossible to choose just one track, I choose all of them! Advice for non-English-speaking listeners spoiled by modern "wall of sound" sound: read the lyrics! Lou himself often preceded his concerts with an announcement that "he only performs his own songs, so you won't hear songs of dead people or those in prison."

Пластинку "Трансформер" я определенно взял бы с собой на необитаемый остров (конечно, при условии что мне обещаны электричество и виниловый проигрыватель). Не все песни на этой пластинке для меня равноценны - конечно нет, конечно же они имеют разный эффект и силу воздействия на меня. Однако количество шедевров на 40 минут просто зашкаливает. Wagon Wheel, Vicious, Hangin 'Round, I'm So Free, Perfect Day, Satellite of Love, Goodnight Ladies -- impossible to choose just one track, I choose all of them! Совет для не-англоязычного слушателя избалованного современным саундом а-ля "стена звука": почитайте тексты песен! Сам Лу часто предварял свои концерты объявлением, что "он исполняет только свои собственные песни, поэтому вы не услышите песен мертвых людей или тех, кто сидит в тюрьме".

In my opinion these are a rare exception to the overall rule 'They don't do it like that anymore! Lucky we.
