Picture a Day - Gazprom building (the biggest skyscraper at St.Petersburg)

(Edited)

Greetings! What you see in this post, is notorious Gazprom building business center at St.Petersburg - the view at the complex from Neva-river aquatorium.

Yeah, this is another photo from my extensive boat-trip-session; otherwise theres no way you can get composition like that (except of you using drone, which nowadays is impossible here... a lot of limitations and restrictions, up to the full prohibition).

So, back to the photo. Actually, I have to confess that I hate said building (like many other citizens) - but I have a more personal attitude to it than others. (I dont want to tell why - its quite personal thing). So, I rather tend nor to look at it neither shoot it. But, during our trip, it was near impossible to act like that... So, I made an exception to my own rule and pointed the camera at this notorious building from time to time, while the boat was moving - we were approaching to it, then moving away, the point of view was changing constantly - thus I took quite a lot of photos, which slightly differ from each other but still look similar .... It was impossible for me to select one best photo, so I took this one. The other 999 are still waiting for their time to be published.

Thanks for walking with me -- see you next time! 🐈

Even if the subject stirs mixed feelings, your photo captures the building with impressive clarity and depth. Sometimes the best shots come from breaking our own rules.

Just one of many from that day. I should make a full photo account of that day. St.Petersburg is a big port city, and I never saw it from this side (yet). Was fascinated myself so much!

Too bad there are so many restrictions on drones. Here in southern California its the same way. It's either a few select beaches or up in the desert areas by Palm Spring which is a long drive. The picture came out OK, even if you do hate the building itself!

Remember the story of the Eiffel Tower, it was also hated by Parisians, but in the end it is now the hallmark of the city. The attitude of young people towards such buildings is completely different from that of older people.
