Dragon's teeth? No, they're very delicate... and small - smaller than pine needles! (coral mushroom). I was really excited to find this little castle-alike colony resting in the moss. Always a delight for a #macro cameraman.

A skinny birch stump received a natural decoration - in the form of a velvet trimming fungus. The photo maybe does not convey it, but it looked like a real gem!

Fly agaric and lily of the valley (matured).

Nature has so many things in red hues, from orange to purple! But the color is short-lived and fades quickly. Extracting these pigments from natural materials for use in art and crafts has proven a challenging task for people throughout history.

I think this fungi family popped up quite recently - the mushrooms have not developed yet, the caps have not yet opened widely... this is what makes this capture unusual and attractive, in my opinion.

The forest was simply overflowing with caps like these. Even a hundred flash card wouldn't have been enough if I'd stopped at each one to make a capture!

The forest carpet is decorated with patterns of dead leaves and mushroom caps - there are so many of both per square meter that the mushroom hunter's eye has to strain to distinguish between leaves and a potential good mushroom for the frying pan.

Another great mushroom – my favorite! It's very, very visible even from 10 meters away :) I'd like to say I didn't collect it in my basket... but actually, no: I collected a few, about 10, and dried the caps – three of them are still (yet) uneaten.

A very late chanterelle. So beautiful!... It stuck out in the moss like a true earthen flower. This time I found just a few tiny ones and one large one, apparently all from the same family, and I put them in my basket to please my daughter – she adores these mushrooms and loves finding them (and eating them).

A curious colony of slime mold.

A mushroom picker's heart won't beat faster at the sight of this large family of mushrooms... no one would pick them into their basket, no matter how hungry they are—but a macro photographer's heart will skip a beat, I can tell you that for sure! It's impossible not to stop and smile as you watch these tiny—the size of a matchstick!—babies make their way to the light and air through dead leaves. Aren't they beautiful? It's a very touching genre for me. Eventually, they will die—but they will have recycled a significant portion of the surrounding vegetation.
