Walking under rain. Some wet street photography from St.Petersburg (visual story in 13 photos)
I didn't read the weather forecast today - my daughter was on school holidays, and after lunch she wanted to go for a walk in the park together and feed the birds. She took a bag of wheat grains, and I, of course, took my 70-200mm telephoto, for a different kind of hunting. The mission was successfully accomplished... when the sky suddenly turned gray, and I overheard two women talking: "Now is the time to get out of here as soon as possible, and in an hour we can come back." I asked again - and found out that the weather forecast now predicts heavy rain for about an hour.
Literally before my eyes, this forecast began to come true. We turned towards home, and my daughter returned home, and I lingered at the entrance to the metro - I bought myself a cup of coffee, but most importantly, I thought that it would be a pity to return home without taking pictures of the rainy streets. Rain generates a lot of cool subjects for a street photographer - as demonstrated by a recent post by @x-rain, who took a walk in the rain along the streets of Saigon... and I've known this for a long time myself. Anyway, I slightly covered my camera under my jacket and hid in ambush opposite the entrance to the metro. Almost all the photos below were taken without leaving one spot.
And by the way, pay attention to my cup of coffee! What depth of symbolism can be found in the picture, if you remember in time that St. Petersburg is famous for its rainy weather. (By the way, I'm gradually accumulating photos for a separate post on this topic).
Someone was walking in the park, collecting beautiful maple leaves and started to weave a wreath - but when it started to rain, might abandoned his work and ran away, leaving the wreath for the next comers. I came ... just to take a photo
A flower-selling lady is patiently waiting for her customers to come.
Other followers of free trade under the open air - exactly under the open sky, which throws water on them from a great height in solid quantaties...
.
This one turned blurry due to the motion, but I still liked and did not want to delete it. The scooter girl arrived to the subway station, parked the scooter and momentarily disappeared in the tube doorway. Smart rider on the storm! (modern edition).
Everyone is hiding from the rain - those who prudently borrowed an umbrella are hiding under their umbrella, those who did not check the weather forecast are pulling their clothes over their heads, or trying to run quickly past the raindrops :)
Some pedestrians made no attempt to take shelter from the rain. (Maybe this girl was waiting for her boyfriend at this spot - and just couldn't leave.) Well, a cup of hot coffee makes you feel a little more at ease and definitely helps you wait!
And the last photo to round up my walk - the only capture I made after the sky cleared and rain have stopped; an eye contact happened.

Thanks for walking with me, see you next time.

.The ability of some women to be able to accurately predict the exact timeline of rain coming just from looking at the clouds is astounding! Those are some great captures, I do love the colours and am surprised more people are not with umbrellas!
I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project! Check out our Reading Suggestions posts!

Ha! I was without umbrella, and my daughter too. I prefer to keep my hands free, and umbrella is not only an 'element of style', but also an excessive 0.5kg weight in my backpack. I refer not to go out at all when it rains... or use a raincoat and a cap with a long visor. If I had already been at home when the rain started - I would never have gone outside with a camera, even with an umbrella assistent covering me from behind. I am a lazy person... but also I am a bit reckless person - so, already finding myself under the rain, I used the opportunity for #street #photography. It may sound paradoxical, but it is. 😄 Thank you very much for your extra support, I really appreciate it. Glad the photos entertained you. Sending you some hive !PIZZA and !BEER. And I wish you good weather for the whole week!
Thank you. As a Brit, we are always prepared with umbrellas in case we need them, they are almost like part of our clothes, because it rains so much! haha
Then I note, that St.Petersburg citizens might be the closest to Brits 😎 It is a city of rains! (I wish it better had more fogs...) !BEER

Мерси! 😘
What beautiful photos, but I like most the one of the girl with the coffee.
You did very well to exploit that drizzle to take pictures with the powerful 70-200mm.
Thank you for choosing your fave one, I appreciate that very much. Mine, I think, is a girl with coat pulled onto her head. I always see this scene on the streets and every time being touched, but very rarely can take such a perfect capture with an eye contact, lol. Have a nice day! 😄
😃
I tell you, you have a very good eye, all the photos are perfect, I love it all of them... but that one, it transmits something to me. Freedom and melancholy at the same time.
And is that coffee good? The packaging looks nice.
Sitting in the rain just like in Vietnam, but 10 or more degrees colder. :| However, it's damp and cool here too (to me): wearing jeans and a shirt this morning.
Choosing this one as the winner in the set:
o-oooo! your pick is... very strange for me, can you please explain, what was the bias behind this decision? what was the criteria?
you are exactly right that sitting under rain here and there has a little nuance: different temperature xD
PS. just returned from 1-day trip to our dacha ( had some business to do). I found myself restricted to 8Gb flash card only, but - took tonns, tonns of photos! there were some very very very cool encounters, mostly with cats. 😎 now I can post on a daily basis for month(s) ahead! 😉 !PIZZA
You can feel raindrops through their facial expressions. At the same time, this bouquet proves the girl feels the day is special.
Lucky you. 😎
Not many cats in Vietnam, mostly indoors. Alas.
The person who leave his/her beautiful maple leaf, l am sure will go back to the park and get lt after the rain.
The creation he/her make is beautiful, and as well as your photos, you nailed all of lt, great photos ❤️
...or rather make a new wraith from fresh leaves. the process in this case might be more intresting and fun, then result! 😊 Have a Hive !BEER, and thank you for a pleasurable feedback.
You are right, he/she might start making a new one and enjoy the fun, greetings

.I see scooters are popular there too. Though driving a scooter in the rain would ensure you statistically hit more raindrops compared to walking. Hopefully some of your rain will come over here so the mushrooms can finally grow again.
They are very well-spread! For me as a dedicated cyclist it is, er..... I cant get it, lol. But this is really a Scooter Epoch now. 😂
