Noble Words : Worshipping the rich, ignoring the poor!

avatar

Many a times I heard that, money are worshipped. I never understand the phrases, untill I noticed that rich people are valued more in the society as compared to a poor. Modern societies often equate wealth with success and a desirable lifestyle, leading to admiration for those who possess material possessions. Such diffrrntiation alwsys leads us to ignoring the poor section of the society.

The perception of "worshipping" the rich and ignoring the poor stems from a complex mix of societal factors including the association of wealth with power, success, and influence, leading to admiration and sometimes even envy, while poverty is often stigmatized and linked to lack of opportunity, causing people to look away or not fully acknowledge the struggles of the poor. Our Sanskrit have the following verses which one can easily relate with the above phrases :

हेतुप्रमाणयुक्तं वाक्यं न श्रूयते दरिद्रस्य|

अप्यतिपरुशमसत्यं पूज्यं वाक्यं समृद्धस्य||

Hetupramaanayuktam vaakyam na shrooyate daridrasya.
Apyatiparushmasatyam poojyam vaakyam samruddhasya.

Hetu = purpose, reason.
Pramaana = proof.
Yuktam = with.
Vaakyam = saying, statement.
Na = not.
Shrooyate = is heard.
Daridrasya = a poor person's. Apyatiparushamasatyam = api + atri + parusham + asatyam.
Api = even.
Ati = very, too much.
Parusham = harsh, unkind.
Asatyam = fase, untrue.
Poojyam = venerable.
Samruddhasya = a wealthy person's.

"People do not heed the statement of a poor person even if it is backed by a valid reason and proof. However, if a wealthy person says something very harsh and totally false, the same is lapped up by the people."

Wealth often translates to social standing and influence, making wealthy individuals appear more important and deserving of respect. This makes poor to be ignored. Bi matter how correct the poor person is, still the majority will believe on the wealthy and rich people.
