Noble Words : Value self possessed things in life!
Some people may believe that happiness comes from acquiring material possessions or experiences, rather than from appreciating the simple things in life. This can create a cycle of acquiring new things while neglecting the value of what they already have. There are many instances, when people do not value the beauty of their own wife, rather they appreciate the others, or tend to run after others to impress. This is one of the instances of undervalueing self possession of things. In this context Sanskrit have following verses :
सुलभं वस्तु सर्वस्य न यात्यादरणीयतां|
स्वदारपरिहारेण परदाराSर्थितो जनाः||
Sulabahm vastu sarvasya na yaatyaadaraniyataam
swadaarparihaarena paradaaraarthito janaah.
Sulabh = easily available.
Vastu = object.
Sarvasya = every ones'
Yaati = given
Aadaraniyataam = proper attention and respect.
Swa = ones' own.
Para = others
Daara = wife.
Parihaar = avid, neglect
Arthit = desired, craved.
Janaah = persons, people.
i.e. An object that is easily available to every one is not given proper importance and recognition e.g. people crave for association with other person's wife and neglect their own wife.
Things acquired with effort are often perceived as more valuable. When something is easily obtained, the lack of effort diminishes its perceived worth, leading to less appreciation. When resources are abundant, people may not fully appreciate their value, as they assume they will always be available. This can lead to a lack of gratitude and even a sense of entitlement. Humans often crave new experiences and possessions. This can lead to a focus on acquiring things rather than appreciating the value of what they already possess, leading to a sense of dissatisfaction and a constant pursuit of something more.
Valuing self-possession is important because it cultivates self-reliance, inner strength, and a sense of control over one's life and emotions. It allows individuals to navigate challenges with composure, resist being unduly influenced by others, and focus on personal growth and development.
