Noble Words : People changes for their own good !
Many people changes their outlook with time. I have noticed similar changes in myself too. As I am getting older, I have observed my outlook towards life is changing. I started to understand the different nuances of life. What suppose to be a easy life for me, appears to be full of competiton and challenges. I am adapting myself and my attitude accordingly. Life is not simple and there are complexities which needs to be handled mindfully. Likewise, many people change their attitude and outlook towards their life with passage of time. With experience, comes the changes and so does the human behavior. Most of the changes happen because of selfish nature of human being, where they wanted derive some benefit. Our ancient Sanskrit have explained this human behavior in following words :
आर्ता देवान्नमस्यन्ति तपः कुर्वन्ति रोगिणः|
निर्धना दानमिच्छन्ति वृद्धा नारी पतिव्रता ||
Aartaa devaannmasyanti tapah kurvanti roginah.
Nirdhanaa daanamicchanti vruddhaa naaree pativrutaa.
Aartaa = persons fallen into misfortune
Devaannamasyanti = Devaan + namasyanti.
Devaan = to the Gods.
Namasyanti = pray, worship.
Tapah = penance, religious austerity.
Kurvanti = perform, do.
Roginah = patients, sick persons.
Nirdhanaa = poor people.
Daanamichanti = Daanam + ichanti.
Daana = donation,
Icchanti = wish.
Vruddhaa= aged.
Naaree = woman.
Pativrutaa = a devoted and virtuous wife.
i.e. People fallen into misfortune,and distress worship the gods and sick people perform penance on enduring suffering. Poor people are desirous of receiving alms and an old woman is faithful to her husband.
The above verses is a satire and condemns people who become religious only on facing a calamity, observe penance on being sick. During times of difficulty, people may turn to worship to ask for God's help and mercy in their struggles. Sick people perform penance to seek healing, express regret for sins, find spiritual comfort, and strengthen their faith through prayer, fasting, and acts of compassion. Likewise, Beggars always craving for alms rather than trying to earn livelihood and a promiscuous woman turning into a devoted and virtuous wife on becoming aged.
A person may learn to exploit situations and other people to secure their own benefit. People change for self-benefit because of the promise of positive outcomes like increased happiness, personal growth, better skills, and expanded opportunities. People are motivated to change when they can see tangible benefits or "gain" for themselves.
