Noble Words : Nature cannot be changed !
We all possess some inherent qualities. It refers to the fundamental, essential, and inseparable qualities or characteristics that are intrinsic to something's being, essentially defining what it is. Inherent nature often implies a degree of permanence or unchangeability in those core characteristics. Many natural occurrences like rainbows, lightning, and eclipses are examples of inherent properties of the physical world. Likewise, every human being have their own inherent nature. No human are equal. These nature are non changeable. To highlight the essential of inherent nature, Sanskrit have following to say :
स्वभावो नोपदेशेन शक्यते कर्तुमन्यथा |
सुतप्तमपि पानीयं पुनर्गच्छति शीतताम् ||
Svabhaavo nopadeshena shakyate kartumanyathaa.
Sutaptamapi paaneeyam punargacchati sheetataam
Svabhaavo = inherent nature.
Nopadeshena = na + upadeshena.
Na = not.
Upadeshena = preaching, advising.
Shakyate = can be.
Kartumanyatthaa = kartum + anyathaa.
Kartum = to do.
Anyathaa = otherwise.
Sutaptamapi = sutaptam + api.
Sutaptam = much heated.
Api = even.
Paaaneeyam = a drink.
Punargacchati = punah + gacchati
Punah = again
Gacchati = goes, becomes.
Sheetataam = coolness.
i.e. Just as very hot water or a hot drink (tea or coffee) again achieves its normal cool temperature after some time, similarly the inherent nature of people can not be changed otherwise by preaching.
The phenomenon of heated water again becoming cool after some time has been skillfully used as a simile in this Sanskrit lines to bring forth the point that the inherent nature of people can not be changed by preaching. Changing an inherent nature is difficult because it is deeply ingrained and fundamental to an individual or thing, often shaped by genetics, early experiences, and long-established patterns.
While preaching can influence perspective and potentially inspire changes in actions, it doesn't necessarily alter the fundamental aspects of an individual's personality or core tendencies. Preaching often struggles to change a person's inherent nature because it primarily addresses outward behavior and beliefs, rather than the deeply ingrained patterns of thought and feeling that constitute one's nature.
