Noble Words : Mean Relationships !

My Dad has very less friends. I rarely seen him going out with friends for his personal time. When I asked him about this he said that,finding a true friend is very rare. And having a few yet true friend around is always a blessing. He adds on that in todays time the friendship is all about the money in the pocket, if you have enough to spend daily, then you have many people around, and if you do not have much than you will find lot of spaces around.

This words took me by surprise. A friendship on the basis of money cannot be called as friends. I have seen in my school too, a student who treat others always surrounded by many other student, while those who do not spend have fewer circle. The following phrases from Sanskrit suit the above circumstances :

त्यजन्ति मित्राणि धनैर्विहीनं पुत्राश्च दाराश्च सुह्रज्जनाश्च |
तमर्थवन्तं पुनराश्रयन्ति अर्थोSहिलोके मनुषस्य बन्धुः ||

Tyajanti mitraani dhairviheenam putraascha daarasch sahrujjanaascha
Tamarthwantam punarashryanti arthohiloke manushasya bandhuh.

Tyajanti = abandon, leave.
Mitraani = friends
Putraasch = sons.
Dhanaiviheenam = without any money.
Daara = wife .
Sahrujanaascha = well wishers, relatives.
Tam = he.
Arthwantam = rich, moneyed.
Punaraashryanti = again take shelter.
Punah = again.
Aashryanti = take shelter under.
Arthohi = only wealth.
Loke = this world.
Manushasya = a person's.
Bandhu = friend.

i.e, A poor person is abandoned by his friends, sons, wife and relatives, but if he subsequently becomes rich they again take shelter under him. Therefore, wealth only is considered the real friend of a person.

Relationships or any friendship are significantly influenced by money due to its impact on various aspects of life, including financial security, shared values, and the ability to navigate challenges together. In my personal view, money itself shouldn't be the primary focus of a relationship, financial compatibility and shared goals are crucial for building and maintaining a healthy partnership.

In earlier times, money wasn't as central to relationships as it is today. Still those friendship and relation are still blossoming and sustaining. We should take a leaf out of it and avoid getting carrying away with monetory factor while choosing any friendship.
