THE CRIES OF MY PEOPLE: INFLATION & INSECURITY
I honestly didn’t plan on writing this prompt tonight for a couple of reasons and one of the reasons being that I felt like a topic of this level of sensitivity is best written with a cool head and a sound mind, and not when the whole body and system is physically and mentally exhausted. Whenever i see a topic that relates more to the situation of my country as a whole, i just can’t help but jump on them immediately because i feel like that’s the best way to express every bottled up emotions of mine including my anger and frustrations, and as a writer i love expressing myself mostly through text since i can’t confront these people of power in reality…
I had to go for this prompt because it is something that will come more natural to me than the one I initially wanted to write on, and right now i feel like i made the right choice. I am starting to feel the words and ideas flowing in right now and it’s even starting to collide with each other 😂, oh my, sorry for the chemistry term used up there. That happens sometimes, and i guess the fresh air this night is also an helping factor…
Enough of all the dilly dallying and digression. Honestly, I had to digress a bit to get in synch with what i have for you all today. Honestly, becoming the president of Nigeria would mean a lot to me and also at the same time would mean nothing to me, and that is because i don’t have the capacity and ability to carry the burdens of millions of people on my shoulder, my fear lies in the power that comes with such position…
Leaving my fears aside and tackling this topic head on, the question is; ”What are the first two struggles of the citizens I would tackle first if I became the president of my country?”.
Hmmm, this is a very deep question with over a thousand and one answers, but then i have thought about this deeply before now and i know just the right two struggles to tackle first if i am in that position of power…
INFLATION…
As the President of my country, the first struggle of my people I would tackle head on is the struggle of INFLATION. Oh yes I am gonna fight this problem fiercely and that too with all my strength and might. Inflation is the persistent rise in the price of goods and services…
Inflation is one of the biggest problems we are facing right now in the country, the rate at which prices of goods are being increased now is very scary and alarming, especially for the less privileged people out there, if only there is employment for everyone out there. As the president of the country, it is expected of me to alleviate my people of suffering and pain, and to make that happen i need to make food and other basic necessities readily available for them at a reasonable price and that too with good quality. It is better to inconvenience myself for them than for them to suffer these hardships under my leadership…
INSECURITY…
Insecurity is another major struggle in my country right now, no place is a safe haven for anyone anymore. You can be on your bed this minute and the next minute you are homeless not to talk more of having a bed to sleep on. This is to tell you how poor our security over here is, battling intruders day and night is very unhealthy and unfair to the people who we claim to serve…
As the President, it is expected of me to tighten the security of my country by all means necessary, safe guarding the people, their families and their respective properties is a must, and that is because these people make up the government, which means without them there is no ME…
In summary, I am going to employ every possible means and method to keep my people safe and secure. This is my responsibility as a President…
In conclusion, A leader is meant to bear the responsibilities of his followers to the end, that is one of the qualities of a good leader, and in this case the PRESIDENT is the leader and the CITIZENS are the followers…
THANKS FOR READING…
It is a difficult task to be president of any country, especially when there are interests of millionaires in its resources or infrastructure. It's a very complex process and a lot of pressure from political groups that are actually the ones who govern a country. A president is just a face, a piece on a big board. A president must have a lot of charisma and negotiating power...you are a white fox, so... You've got a head start. Hahaha...
A president's intentions may be very good but he will not be able to do anything that will affect the powerful people who put him there.
Hopefully one day we will have better living conditions and more opportunities. Greetings!
