YOU WON'T KNOW HOW MUCH YOU'VE MISSED UNTIL YOU TRY AGAIN:CYCLING AFTER A LONG TIME.

Riding bicycle was not common when I was growing up as a kid. Only the teens and adults get to ride bicycles and this is because bicycle was not really considered as something a kid should have. Parents then prefer getting their kids toy cars and that's even if they feel you need one.

Fortunately, things changed a bit during my time, kids around my age (8-11) were already having bicycle as toys though I never had one. The first time I rode one was when I traveled to stay with my dad's friend, the daughter had a bicycle and I used to be the one to push her round the compound every evening till she could ride by herself. So we take turn to ride her bicycle every evening till I left.

The next time I remember riding a bicycle again was before covid 19, my friend David, would bring his elder brother's bicycle to my house so we could enjoy the evening. I could not ride it well at all because it has been a very long time I rode one plus the bicycle was a bit taller. I was scared of getting injured so I did not force myself but I got better in a week: though I could not ride long distance.

I rode bicycle again after 4 years and some months, a guy in my church brought his bicycle on a Saturday during choir rehearsal and I knew that was my chance to ride a bicycle again. I told him I would love to ride his bicycle after rehearsal and he agreed but I was not able to because few other guys had gathered around the bicycle taking turns to ride: so I stood a far and had fun while watching them.

The following week, on Wednesday, this guy brought his bicycle to church during mid week service and I was able to ride this time around. I went outside the main auditorium to where he had parked it, I also called a friend to join me. I was carful at first because it has been a long since I rode. I later got comfortable and I really enjoyed myself while riding the bicycle.

The bicycle does not have the normal hand brake that is at the handle, the bicycle pedals also served as the break by pedaling backwards. I had to be careful when I found out and thank God I was told before I tried increasing the speed at which I was riding the bicycle.

My friend and I took turn to ride inside the church compound and at that moment, I began to remember how much fun it was riding bicycle when I was younger and how much I had missed. I can't wait to ride another time again, I hope the guy would bring his bicycle to church again so I can ride it outside the church compound and also share my experience with everyone in this community.
