It's an annoying thing for sure.. though I don't love the "leftism" term because it's pretty broad. I would argue that progressivism is likely a better word. Leftism makes it seem like it's right or left but there are dozens of directions people can and should go politically instead of just two.

Agree it is problematic! The conservatives also get some pretty difficult issues themselves, so it's good to figure out where we reside on issues and not be dogmatic, rather be open to being polycentric.

Embracing multiple perspectives definitely enriches political discourse. Our complex views can't be easily boxed into left vs. right and a polycentric approach might bring us closer to understanding each other's nuances
