Exams Motivation
What perfect timing, writing this prompt as I'm currently in my exam era! I remember times when I often fell sick during exams due to the stress and pressure I mounted on myself. I'd break down badly. After the exams, I'd sit down and think about how to develop a new study technique or strategy before the start of another semester.
Initially, my technique was going for night class every night from the beginning to the end of the exams, exposing myself to cold and mosquitoes. This alone predisposed me to falling sick. Additionally, I was among those students who waited until a week or few days before exams to start preparing. This was a bad decision, as it only made each course feel pressured. Most times, I ended up cramming the whole notes and then pouring them out in the exam hall, only to forget everything immediately after.
So, moving forward, how did I deal with everything? First, I started developing a constant habit of reading every night after the day's lectures, even if it was just for 1-2 hours. I made sure to go through what was taught that day to avoid it from piling up. I do summary of all my notes before time, introduced reading with mnemonics/acronyms.
Secondly, I joined a reading group, which was the best decision I made for myself. It helped me remember all that we discussed without stress. We'd come together to discuss, do questions and answers every weekend, and before each test or exam.
In the past two semesters, I've been going home for a short break from my books before the exams, which helps me refresh my mind and brain from previous stress and set my mind ready for the exams. However, I couldn't take any break this semester due to the strenuous schedules. My exams are starting next week, and I still have a test to write today and practicals to report.
During this period, I make sure to stock up on easy-to-make foodstuffs like noodles, spaghetti, golden mourn, biscuits, and beverages. Most times, I don't have time to cook, so I end up eating out. I always make sure to take my multivitamins during exams to at least boost my immune system against the stress.
This has really helped me from falling sick during exams lately. The early habit of reading I developed has helped me a lot, and before exams approach, I've already covered all my notes thoroughly more than twice. With this, I no longer read under pressure. I don't go to night classes anymore, exposing myself to cold and mosquitoes. I've mastered the habit of reading comfortably in my room and then joining my reading mates during the daytime for our normal group discussions, questions, and answers.
With this, I've been able to manage my time and combat the stress and pressure that comes with the sight of an exam timetable. Initially, there was trauma associated with it, but now I'm more confident. So, guys, thank you for stopping by! I hope I'm able to inspire one or two people. And please, I'm writing my second professional exam, please wish me well!

You're doing well babygirl, and I wish you all the best in your exams. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much 😍
You're welcome 🤗.
One would manage time and prevent stress and unnecessary pressure when they prepare ahead of exams. Even if one only reads for 30 minutes after each lecture, it makes a difference than waiting a week or less for exams and starting to rush, which makes people fall ill. That was a good approach there, and it makes reading fun, too.
Exactly....
Since I started this technique I don't really stress my self that much during exams
