The Best Outing This Weekend!

I would say this was a great outing I went to yesterday and today. I got this flier from my Reverend, which was posted on our Youth WhatsApp group, and I knew it was somewhere I should definitely attend. When it comes to marriage retreats or talks for singles, it’s always something I've always wanted to be present at to take home a dose of instructions and hear from experienced marriages who have stood the test of time together for years and are still standing strong and rooted in Christ.

Trust me, the best marriage is one rooted in Christ, and it’s always good to choose the right partner; otherwise, one would miss it. The program started yesterday at 4 pm and ended by 5:30 pm today; it was an overnight camping.

We were three who attended this program: myself, a church member and my friend, whom I invited, and she enjoyed it. I’m glad I also brought her, too, because I felt I shouldn’t enjoy this opportunity alone, especially since she’s also of a marriageable age.

There were different seminars that came up, and we also watched a movie last night, which was inspiring as we took lots of lessons from it. Biblical examples of those who made the right choices in marriages were mentioned, among them were Isaac and Rebekah.

Seriously, their story of how they met was interesting and funny, too. Listening to the explanation and how we could take lessons from it as Christian ladies and men was something we shouldn’t hesitate because no matter the world’s standards, God’s standard of marriage never changes.

In the movie we watched, two people were ripe for marriage and as they waited and kept on praying to God, both of them went the wrong way, and it was something they regretted later. The title of the movie was Eternal Omission.

For the guy, it was time for him to be given a spouse, and he was invited to a program to serve as a Bible study teacher, and that was where he and the other lady would meet, but he went to another program, which he was invited to just a day before the program. He left the other one, which he had been preparing for months, but due to his disobedience to the Holy Spirit, he missed his wife.

For the lady, even when God had revealed the right man to her couldn’t wait because, as she was instructed to go for the program where she would meet the other guy, she went but didn’t meet him. And due to impatience, she married someone else who wasn’t the right one for her.

She was too much in a hurry just because she thought age wasn’t on her side, being 27 years old. If she’d waited, perhaps God would have divinely arranged another man for her since the other guy disobeyed. He also married a different woman, and the aftermath for both of them got worse.

Eventually, after 20 years, they both met at a seminar, but it was too late for them to connect. It was such an eternal omission for them because they couldn’t fulfil what God had planned for them years back, which could have helped change lives and generations.

This is something that is happening among people, where they run ahead of God because they think He is not answering them. And in most cases, God answers on time, but a lack of sensitivity and disobedience have led many prayers to be left unanswered, and it isn't until we examine our lives that we realise what’s actually wrong.

Anyway, there were lots of things I learnt which I believed God purposely brought me to the program, and I am grateful and fortunate to attend. I believe God is working it out and His process, though it takes a long time, will definitely happen at His own time, and all I need to keep doing is to continue praying while I am assured that I am being worked on to be the perfect woman for the future.

Above all, resourcefulness is something we all need to always strive to achieve because God will not listen to you when He doesn’t see your capacity in areas He wants you to develop in. We must wait while He keeps doing His work, and most importantly, to build a strong relationship and walk with Him.

This was a lovely and resourceful seminar. I also love attending marriage seminars to gather knowledge and glean wisdom from those who have made it.

I’m really glad you learnt a lot from the program. Programs like this are always so enlightening, but I’m surprised only three people attended such an interesting program.

No, there were actually lots of people who attended, just that three of us went. Thank you, Rofiat.

Wow! The program was full of lessons and reminders about God’s timing and the importance of obedience in every step of life, especially when it comes to marriage. I’m sure the lessons and awareness you gained will stay with you and continue to guide you in your plans.
