My Best Yuletide Season!

Memories rush into my head as I read through the last edition. Indeed, the Christmas and New Year seasons were the best experiences for me as a child, and they were the sweetest time for me, too. My best memory of the Yuletide season was when I was still very young.
It was December 24th that year and we had to spend the eve at the RCCG auditorium because the camp wasn’t far from our house. You only need to walk for a few minutes, going through some corners of the street, and you are in the auditorium.
There was light on that day, too. Then, if there had not been electricity, we were sure the light would be available during those festivals and would last hours for us to enjoy watching movies, listening to music and playing games with other kids.
My mom was fond of buying bangers for us, and it was always a sweet moment throwing those bangers around, making sounds everywhere, but we were always careful so we weren’t hurt by them. As children, we were happier because of our Christmas outfits arranged neatly in the wardrobes. We started counting down to the hours of the day.
We returned from camp around 12:30 am where everywhere was like it was still day because of the streetlights around each street. Everyone is talking, walking, jumping here and down. People standing to enjoy the moment and all sorts. The whole place was full of the Christmas scents, and we played around before we got home. And when we did, we still stayed outside the house because it was lively.
Every parent has been in the kitchen preparing for the main day, which was Christmas, and there was another thing I always looked forward to about the season: we would surely give out food and also receive from other families, all because of the Joy in sharing. That moment cannot be forgotten and it made Yuletide festivals interesting.
But now, even though we still enjoy the Christmas season coming, it’s not as fun as before, especially when we travel home to spend the holiday season with our families.
Then, we would travel to our hometown in our Daddy’s car but everything is in the past now. No more Christmas clothes or shoes, as you are now left to get them yourself, and even if you try not to, other kids would want to task you with those responsibilities.
My friend reached out to me yesterday about how her son’s Christmas clothes were very expensive, and she was contemplating buying them or not, but later concluded that her mom would buy them for him. But would that work? She is the mother and definitely would get it.
In those days, our parents never spent much getting everything for us, but today, things have changed, and even getting one for a child, not to mention 3-5 kids, can be really difficult these days.
Christmas at that time was always fun and I miss the moments so much. If only one could turn the hands of the clock back, I would gladly go back to the past and relive those moments. They are indeed memories I would cherish forever. They are what make life beautiful and sharing those stories can surely bring an adrenaline rush in us.

It was so fun, there is this special taste that Christmas rice have that other months rice don't have...hahah, then fun is not as expensive as it is these days. Now we calculate so well so as not to over do.
