Early Riser: My Secret Weapon Against Procrastination!!!

"I will do this later. I need more time to rest, let this wait for now. Oh, it's time, common, till tomorrow. I promise to do it unfailingly then." Tomorrow comes again and I shift it until the end of the day. And by the time I realize it, I have wasted time and started to run around, and in haste to do it which ends up not perfect to my satisfaction and breaks down due to stress.
They say procrastination is the thief of time, also a MONSTER. But doing things on time and when it's time keeps you away from bad jobs and even helps to save more time including making you relax.
Last weekend, I had stacked up some dirty clothes which I intentionally wanted to wash the next day after church service, only that I don't know when. I already washed lots of them on Thursday and because I had lots of tasks to do on Saturday, shifted them to the next day. I was in Church when I was deliberating what time to wash those clothes exactly, and when I got home, I sprung into action before I ate.
I planned to prepare my food and at the same time do the laundry so that everything would go the same time. I was excited when I finished the laundry and my food was ready at the same time and I felt good for multitasking and not procrastinating. Initially, I'd thought that when I have finished eating, took some rest, then would wash those clothes, but another thought was telling me that I may end up not washing the clothes due to tiredness which I might not even get to wash until another weekend and that would make more dirty clothes in the laundry basket.
Another time last week, a student brought her assignment to me in the evening and I promised to help do it later as I was busy. Thankfully, it was on a Friday which means she would submit the following Monday. I promised to send it over the next day when I was done — I was busy that night though. The assignment is to do some research online and provide meanings of some agricultural terms. The next day which was on Saturday, I kept staring at the book which was placed on the floor at the end of my bed even when I had time. Anytime my eyes went straight in that direction, I procrastinated because I was watching movies and doing other unnecessary stuff that could have waited.
Towards the evening, I stood up and did the job when I realised time wasn't on my side. I got myself stuck up when the assignment was taking me over 2 hours and I regretted not starting on time. Some of my activities were pending and I missed an opportunity in the process.

Just like I said, procrastination is a thief of time and would make you miss opportunities and even miss doing some activities that should have been attended to.
But, I don't procrastinate all the time and I have seen many differences when I don't. For instance, I have studied and observed that whenever I make a list of things to do for the day, I do them quickly and have enough spare time to do other things not on the list and would be excited. Also, whenever I decide to go with the flow, I get lazy and end up forgetting lots of things to do and when it's towards the end of the day, I remember not doing them and will get infuriated at myself.
I also observed that when I wake up early in the morning, I jump on the activities for the day and would have lots of time for other things most especially to watch movies or listen to music.
I am also a fan of waking up very early in the morning by 5 am because I am a teacher who must be in school at 7:30 am. When I wake up at 5, I do part of the activities which I would have listed down or most times when I do not have time, use my brain to work them out and do them immediately as I keep remembering.
Procrastination makes me lazy and forgets things a lot, it is the reason I set an alarm and give it a description of what I intend to do so I don't end up racking my brain on what to do when the alarm sounds.
When I procrastinate, I feel unproductive because I won't be able to do things I need to do and other times, I hurriedly carry out tasks which in the end would not bring satisfaction but only to learn my lessons. Also, it makes me feel stressed when I start to rush around, wanting to catch up before the deadline.

Though I haven't gotten over procrastination completely, I have been able to manage my time, write out the list of things to do and make sure to follow through. Many times when I realise how much time I would have left when I get those things done on time, it motivates me not to push things over but to jump on them as soon as possible.
I would finish up with this: waking up at 5 am or very early in the morning has proven to work effectively in addressing the issue of procrastination for me while still having more spare time. Although there are days when one wouldn't feel like waking up early, it is a perfect way to be productive when procrastination is eliminated.

It's funny how procrastination has become a part of most of us in this generation, especially students. After thinking you have enough time, boom you see yourself struggling to achieve a task on the last minute, lol. Just as you have rightly said, waking up early is a major key.
Yes. The time seems to be fast when we are trying to rush things which we could have avoided if we do not procrastinate. Thank you.
There are many differences when we don't procrastinate. The deal is to first discipline the flesh so it can agree with you when needed 😃
Why wouldn't a teacher be an early riser? You want to be sacked , hahaha 😂, but obviously you are doing well princess ...I have known you as an early riser who wakes to do her daily devotion and other online activities just before the day breaks...that period, we are full of energy and being productive is almost inevitable . Really a nice way to eliminate Procrastination
Hahaha. It's because I love being at a place very early oo 😁
Yes, we just have to learn how to discipline the flesh in us to conquer procrastination.
Thanks for those lovely words. I appreciate it ❤️😘
Thought I am the one that feels this way, it makes me feel as though I missed out on something valuable.
The only way to deal with procrastination is by disciplining our body to take action when needed if not procrastination go swallow us 😂
Exactly. Just like Nkem said, we have to discipline the flesh to be able to conquer procrastination. Thank you, Queen.

Procrastination is the thief of time truly. One would keep shifting the execution of tasks forward.
Your tip of writing a list of schedules for the day is very helpful. I can testify to that. Whenever I wrote Dow my schedule of activities, I tend to actualize them timely.
You're so right, procrastination is truly the thief of time if we can let go of it we will be more productive.

Very well said, procrastination is really the thief of time. It takes your time slowly and before you know it, you are far way behind.
