An Online Angel

I would never forget such a day. It was a truly surprising one, and it left me speechless, wondering how we could have people like that. Angels come in human form, amusingly enough. Some people experience their act of kindness and then they leave, even without waiting to have a conversation with them, perhaps to let them know why they did that.

I love some unexpected events that play out, especially when help comes in when we need it, and the shocking part is how it came from an angel who was only there to deliver their message, and they are gone even before you could blink your eyes. I cannot recall many of them, but the one that stayed with me is what I would share with us.

For me, this happened online, some years back. I was still a very young teenage girl, sitting in her mom’s shop - honestly, I can’t remember the year anymore, nor do I recall if my mom had died at that time. It happened in a short period of time that day, but it stuck with me forever.

Actually, I met this man on Facebook; I saw his pictures, but he didn’t see mine and we were chatting. If I could remember, it was just a few days after our chat, never wanted anything from me but needed someone to chat with. He asked me about my education, which I told him. He even suggested I enrol on theatre arts because that was his work. I refused but that didn’t stop him from communicating with me.

A few days later, I sat down at my mom’s shop and I needed some money then. It was very urgent but there was no way I could tell my Dad about it. But this man, not knowing me from anywhere, asked what was wrong and I explained to him. Immediately, he asked for my account details, and I thought it was a joke when I got an alert of five thousand naira.

And that was it. I never heard from the man again until years later when I was in university. He reached out to me through Facebook - in fact, I’d forgotten about him until he introduced himself again. I thanked him for the last time and he went off again. Till now, we have never talked again.

That day was a shock to me because I had never experienced such a thing before in my life, not even someone sending me money online when we hadn’t seen each other. It occurred to me that God used him that day to meet my needs.

Just like @afrikens said in her post, God will not descend from heaven to help; He sends angels in human form to do what they are asked to do. This is why you see someone helping you and in a twinkle of an eye, before you even blink and know what has happened, he or she has disappeared. God is sovereign and does as He wishes through His people.
