A Land of No Network: So Frustrating!

I am currently in a program located in Ogun State. It's a youth convention hosted by the Nigerian Baptist Church. According to what I heard, this is the second annual youth convention.

I also registered to go to the convention because I want to see how things are done, mingle with new people, and socialise.

I was excited to meet people I knew from where I serve. I never expected to see them but when I did, I knew that's life. We meet everywhere, and when we do not expect it, such a meeting is always amazing. It brings back past memories and reminds us of how we are all doing.

The program started yesterday and will end on Saturday morning, after which we will return to Ibadan, with just a two-hour journey. So far, I have been enjoying it, but accommodation has been the issue.

Yesterday, being the first day, was so hectic. We left the convention ground at 10pm only to find a place to sleep at almost 1am. Everywhere had been filled up with people, and it was by God's grace that we found an empty space to accommodate the 7 of us. It's always good to walk in groups; otherwise, the whole thing would be stressful for one person to start running around looking for where to sleep.

How about food? It was another tug of war staying in the line for food. We couldn't get much food yesterday, the same thing today, and it felt like no one was coming for us. Though we have some guys who stood as leaders for us, sourcing every information for us but it wasn't enough. At first, I felt disappointed by the whole thing. It was as if there were no proper arrangements.

Glad I had some money on me to sort myself out with food daily and the truth? I can't wait for Saturday to come so I can enjoy a good sleep in my room.

I haven't had enough sleep since we arrived, and everything makes me remember the camp experience during my service year. It felt like being a youth corper again, but this time around, it's a church thing.

Though their toilets are always clean, you'd have to queue before it gets to your turn. We are many, and if I should guess, we are more than 20,000 people who came from all over Nigeria to attend the program.

Guest speakers of high calibre were invited and their talks on different topics were excellent (more are coming) and it promises to be another great session delivered for all youth.

One issue right now is that there's no network. I can't do anything except once in a while when it comes back. I don't think I can survive where there's no network at all and it feels like being stuck online without doing much. Even publishing this post was by luck because I have been targeting and monitoring the network.

I hope to be back again active. See you soon!

Lol, that sounds like you are on another planet but I guess the convention planning was not well managed.

Tomorrow is Friday, bear a little since you wanted this expecrience. Saturday morning is just around the corner. You'll be fine 😁

Well from my little experience of church camp meetings it isn't always convenient but many times always worth it because those times can serve as time to reflect and set many things aright both physically and spiritually
I remember one convention I had to sleep in the bus from Tuesday night till Sunday morning when we left camp as for network anytime people are that crowded at a location it's always an issue reminds me of the few convocations I have experienced here in Funnab.
Thanks for sharing wishing a life changing encounter.
