The hidden family treasure
Dara lost her mother at a tender age and ever since her mother died she has moved in with her aunt who lives in Lagos.
Dara happens to be a very hard-working girl and she was the only child of her late mother, while her aunt has two daughters and a son.
Years passed and Dara was nothing but a common housemaid to them because her aunt always treated her like a maid, she was made to work for her children who were older than her.
"Dara! Dara!! Dara!!! Wake up" her aunt woke her up.
"Aunty it's just 4 am Aunty" Dara replied, immediately she said that her aunty slapped her and shouted at her "Will you get up from there and start working now before I break your head on that floor there" Dara stood up reluctantly and went to the kitchen.
Around 7 a.m. her aunty children were awake, "Dara could you please get me water in the kitchen there?" Kate who is the elder sister shouted from the sitting room. Dara on the other side was about to grab a cup when she suddenly closed her eyes and the glass cup slipped from her hands.
The sound of the glass cup that landed on the ground got everyone's attention and they all, down to the kitchen. Dara was bleeding on her leg because the cup wounded her.
"Oh, now you have grown wings? All you want to do now is to ruin my life by destroying all that I have?" Her aunty said immediately she got to the kitchen and saw the glass cup.
"Am sorry ma, I didn't do that intentionally" Dara replied with tears in her eyes but her aunty didn't look at her leg or her eyes before she started beating her up.
Some minutes later, Dara was in pain at the backyard and there was nothing to use for her pain so she decided to stroll down to the chemist to get paracetamol because that was the only thing she could afford.
"Hey! Sister, hello" A young man ran after Dara as he was calling her but Dara was lost in thought so she couldn't hear anyone calling her. But he managed to tap her from the back, "Hey, hi" Dara replied with a trembling voice.
"Sorry I don't mean to scare you" the young man replied,
It's fine sir, are you lost did you want me to give you directions?" Dara asked.
No not at all, I noticed that you are bleeding and I could read your movement that you are lost in thought, "Are you ok" the young man asked.
"Yeah, I... Am arrrh, see I need help, I don't like asking strangers for help but I need help. My name is Dara" she quickly let it out before she changed her mind.
The young man noticed that all that she was saying was true.
"It's fine Dara, hope am right. That's my car over there let me get you something" the young man said and immediately he turned back, he stopped then said, "Sorry miss forgive my manners, "My name is King" then went off to his car.
Dara smiled and asked herself, "King of where" while she turned her back at the direction of king not knowing king was already coming back.
"I heard that" King replied with a smile then stretched some cash to her, Dara was scared to collect such huge amount of money because that was her first time seeing such money.
"It's ok, you can have it and that's my number on it if you need more a willing to help you", said while Dara was staring at the money in his hand but she later collected it and took care of herself. 3 days later Dara went to a phone booth to make a call and thank King for his help.
Some months later, they a so close but Dara never had a chance a visit his place but she always called him every 3 days to say hi to him.
"Dara, where are you coming from?" Her aunt shouted at her when she noticed that Dara had been going out to make a call.
"No ma I went to check on the... Waste... I mean the pepper seller" Dara replied while shivering.
"Oh, really you have now started prostitution in my house?" Her aunty replied with a mop stick in her hand and immediately she moved closer to Dara, She ran outside but on her way, she fell and had a cut on her leg but she never stopped running because she knew how bad the woman would hit her if she stayed.
She couldn't think of anywhere to go other than her mother's house, Dara had this small purse that she always carried with her and that is where she always kept every money King gave to her.
3 days after Dara had been in her mother's house she decided to rearrange the apartment so that it would be convenient for her to stay.
While she was packing up all the spoilt items she saw a small mini box shining under her mom's bed so she quickly raised the bed and dragged the box out.
"What is this box?" Dara asked herself as she tried to open the box but she couldn't so she went to the kitchen to get a knife and forcefully open it.
"Wow this is beautiful", Said with a surprised look on her face.
She brought the diamond stone out and it was so beautiful that Dara forgot what she was doing, a minute later she looked inside the box and found a letter that was written by her mom.
"Dear Dara my daughter this is the family treasure passed to me from your grandma and she told me to pass it to you when I am gone"
Dara felt bad reading her mom's letter but then she didn't stop reading.
"This diamond is a treasure that makes someone successful in everything you do, you don't need to sell it, just keep it safe so it can be passed on to your children as well".
Dara shed tears remembering all that she went through from her aunty without knowing what will make her life better is waiting for her right under her mom's bed.
She stood up and went out to make a call and King came to pick her up from her mom's house that was how they became a couple and King's wealth became more because of the treasure that Dara had with her which is very clear to King.
Quite a touching beautiful story. People often maltreat children they didn't give birth to. Glad Dara had a happy life afterwards
Yeah people do that a lot because they know nobody can question them and am glad Dara finally got a better man and the family treasure as well
Yay! 🤗

I just hope Dara never discloses the hidden treasure to King because humans can be so wicked. No one is to be trusted when it comes to things like this to make one wealthy. Dara was lucky though.
King happens to be a good and kind husband so she did and they lived happily after
That's good.
The Cinderella tale returns in many forms. It's a storyline that resonates because we all can envision the glory of rising up from lowly circumstances.
