Rethinking tax equality; balancing benefits and contributions

Hello everyone and welcome to the HL community, a community that allows everyone all over the world to share their ideas and life experiences.

Let me make use of this opportunity to wish you all a happy weekend.

The prompt for today says, "The rich also pay".

All fingers are not the same, is what I always heard, and despite having the same rights, we can never be on the same level when it comes to life generally.

Well, if we are to look at the rate at which things are going in this country now, there shouldn't be anyone paying tax because I didn't see anything or any effect of the tax everyone is paying, but then we just have to pay one way or the other.

If we are to share the tax paying equally for both the rich and the other people, it means we are just cheating some people because it is not what the rich own that the others own, so why should they pay equal money?

Let's be fair with one another by thinking about how much the rich benefit from what the taxes are being used for and how many things they have acquired compared to the others who are still struggling to make ends meet. The tax paid by the rich people could actually be the other people's life savings, so if I should answer the question, my answer would be, "Tax shouldn't be shared equally, but by what you have or acquire," just like how it is done in some countries.

They pay their taxes according to what they have. I don't know how tax is being paid here because I don't work as a salary earner, but during the time I was working in the factory, the shortage we had on our salaries was always much, and whenever we questioned the supervisor, he would say, taxes have been removed from our salaries, which makes it smaller than the usual money we were supposed to collect.

The reason why I wouldn't support equality in taxes is because the rich are the ones benefiting most in this country. For instance, in most of the places where the government said they were putting all the taxes, some people don't even have a chance to get there or see it, but rich people can go there anytime they want.

For example, the government made use of taxes to make good roads in some areas, and in such areas, life is more expensive than in the usual areas we are in. Most people living in such areas are rich, so they benefit from the roads and some other things the taxes are being used for.

Meanwhile, people over here pay as well, but we lack the good roads and some other benefits that the taxes are being used for.

I saw a video on Facebook where a hospital was equipped by the government with the same taxes because it was stated in the video, and such a hospital can never be affordable to some people because of the rate they charge patients, meanwhile the rich go there day in and day out because they can afford the treatment there.

I can't fall sick and think of going to such a hospital unless I am ready to take a huge loan, which I might pay for a very long time, and if anything should be faulty in such healthcare, it is the same taxes the government would use, while it is not everyone that pays these same taxes that benefits from it.

So for that reason, the rich people should pay more than the others since they benefit more from what the tax is being used for.

The only solution to the problem is for everyone to pay taxes according to what they have or their salaries because you can't collect small amounts of money for your salary and be paying huge amounts of money for taxes; that is nothing but cheating.

Well said my sis. This is nothing but the fact. Fingers are not equal. So when it comes to taxation I think the rich should pay more because they war and use more.

That's absolutely right because all fingers are not equal and we don't earn the same way as well.
