DIY/Transforming my hand bag to school bag

The handbag was given to me by my mom the last time I visited her, I collected the bag because it has enough space to pack thing for a short trip.

I always make use of this bag every Friday whenever am going to a vigil at night. Whenever I am going, I take my blanket, socks, water, biscuits (optional) and my garment inside the bag. But ever since I started carrying the bag I always feel pain in the shoulder, having all the load resting on one shoulder wasn't helping.

I have been thinking of buying a school bag because of the load but then I thought of transforming the handbag into a school bag instead of getting another bag. And it worked out for me, I never believe it as well because it looks more beautiful as a school bag even than a handbag.

Procedure

Step 1

I cut one hand from the bag and then measured it with the other hand to see if it will be the same length after I sew it, but it wasn't the same length so I cut it to the same length.

Step 2

I sew it back to the other side with white thread, the reason why I make use of white thread is because black thread will be too obvious on the bag since it is cream colour and I don't have the colour of the thread.

Step 3

After sewing the hand I noticed that if I back the bag, the mouth will be open though it has a zip but it wasn't enough and to make the mouth look firm, I make use of the white rope I removed from one of my trousers to support the zip.
I sew the rope on the other side of the bag then cover it with pieces of leather that I cut off from the hand to cover the rope so that it will look beautiful.

And that is how I transform my handbag into a school bag and I like the outcome so much because I never expected it to be this beautiful.
