Growth built on tradition

Everything about life are always a two face events,either good or bad,it breaks or mend,hence such is applicable to some traditions.In every society,traditions act as a foundation upon which progress can be thoughtfully built,it also provides stability and identity oftentimes,but we ought to understand that before something came to be,we starts with understanding its origins,its purpose and its significance,though there is no justification whatsoever to certain traditions that broughts pains and hurt to people,because i tend to belief that some were done out of ignorance,and now that we have embrace change,they kick against such,because they have no relevant nor could it contribute anything to the progress of that individual nor the society at large.

So in essence,i would say that traditions can both hinder and encourage progress.because certain traditions promote social cohesion and provide a sense of identity,while others can be harmful and restrictive,or impede necessary change that might affect the society and people either negatively or positively,and all these lies in critically evaluating the traditions we embrace.

For instance the tradition that forced early marriage,which was detrimental to individuals' health and well-being of the lady actively prevented social progress,tradition of gender discrimination,seeing the women as ones that has nothing to offer nor contribute to the progress of the society,these were traditions that held people back,and buried so many talents and dreams in many women,some even died with those precious gifts because they were not valued neither did their opinion count then in those societies,these were traditions that silent so many women then,but the exciting part is that such traditions are now being aborted,we now have women that have contributed and are still contributing greatly and positively to the growth,development,and progress of so many societies today,also marriages are no longer imposed or forced on people,and female education is being embraced warmly,this is a great progress.

I came to learnt that strictly adherening to these outdated traditions has a way of preventing societies or communities from embracing new challenges and opportunities that can lead to growth in such society.
One major factor that gladens my heart is that our parents and most of our leaders now stand up to the challenge,which has brought about the change,growth,and progress now enjoy,also the ability to unlearn certain things contributed greatly as well to the changes we enjoy,eradicating those traditions that hinders the progress,then embracing new ideas,that also foster the growth and progress.

Although most people still hold firmly to certain traditions,but they have reasons for it.but i believe that meeting up with the standard of our persent society,we have to abort and do away with certain traditions that tends to bring backwardness and embrace traditions that brings growth and progress.
