God's Mission: Go, Teach and Baptize
Hello everyone
Welcome to my blog
When Jesus was on earth, I discovered that he was a missionary, busy doing the will of his father, which was teaching and discipling, although to the crowd he always speak in parables, but the selected ones (disciples) whom he chose to walk with him, he observed, teaching them the word as well as teaching them how to pray, deeper things was explained to the disciples than to the people (Crowd). So Oftentimes he will gather them and explain some of the parables to them, although most of them didn't understand, so they asked for clarity.
Jesus was teaching them all those times, so he decided to see how they will practice what they have been taught, by sending them in two, waiting for them to bring feedback, they came back excited saying that even the demons bow down to them. I derived a lesson from there, doing the will of the father (mission) is accompanied with blessings, joy and fulfilment.
Disciples can only follow suit the teachings of their master, to execute a task given to them, I believe that was the reason why Jesus selected the twelve (12) to teach them specially so that they may continue the father's work when he has gone back, which was the great commission (mission).
Personally teaching is not effective when there is no action carried out to back it up, it only becomes effective only when what we've been taught is practiced by the disciples (us). The teacher won't know the level of our understanding until we practice it.
Mission is the heartbeat of God, that is why Jesus gave an instruction after his resurrection, and which happened to be his last command on earth to his disciples, which are "Go, Teach (make disciples) and Baptized" these were the key things the disciples were to do, and that is mission.
Matthew 28:19
NLT: Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
We as Christians (having the likeness of Christ) ought also to follow these same instructions because it is the heartbeat of God, and it's a command from our saviour, so we are to preach (teach) this good news to everyone, and that is the greatest commission for every believer.
Mark 16:15
NLT: " Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere.
We have been taught, and have been saved, so we ought to also Go, preach (teach) and baptize, even though we are not the ones doing the baptism, but let us go and teach (preach).
And what are we to teach them?
Matthew 28:20
NLT: Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age. "
We are to teach them to obey all of God's commands, the one given to us, same are we to give to others, this command is only found in God's word (Bible) and obeying and practicing it is what is paramount in the kingdom, "........whoever hears this saying of mine and doth them is like as a wise man..." Although we declared our love for God always, so he has given us instruction, so we try to please our loved ones here on earth, same should we strive daily to please our heavenly father by carrying out or doing his will (mission).
John 14:23
NLT: Jesus replied, " All those who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and live with them.
Following God's instructions came with an assurance that he will be with us always, even to the end of time.
God's mission should be our mission, because no one ever served God without being blessed. God has given us the Holy Spirit to help us in carrying out this mission successfully, but he still need human vessel to use and that is us (believers).
God's mission should be our mission.
