Contentment: An uncompromised factor to happiness

Hello everyone,
It feels great to be here.

I love to ask these questions, why do people stretch, even going extra miles negatively to get what they do not have, some engages in stealing, cheating, and every dubious act that i can mention?
I came to the conclusion that there is lack of contentment, then I was moved to make some finding about it, because these people even after engaging in those things, won't still be happy, and they will be living a life of fear.

I understood that contentment is not hereditary nor what we buy from the market, or rather it is a character or attitude that we train ourselves to exhibit.
Contentment is all about finding joy in what we already have in our lives, showing satisfaction with our possessions, and status. It’s also a feeling of being happy without stretching to find fulfillment in acquiring more what we do not have, it also a feeling of quiet happiness and satisfaction as well as knowing God’s plan for our life, also having a conviction to live it, as well as believing that God’s peace is greater than the problem of the world. It’s all about finding happiness within, despite the circumstances, instead of relying on external factors to make us feel good.

When we focus on the world's problems, it only brings about worries, fear, dissatisfaction, etc, and it will yield the fruits of discontentment, which will be as a barrier to our happy life.
Discontentment will always become a great obstacle to thriving in a simple and happy life. I love saying that life is simple, and living that simple life is to be contented.
Contentment helps to simplify our lives. I realized that joy is not found in our possessions, nor is it determined by the value of our physical belongings. But it is found in contentment, it is an initial process of simplifying our lives which requires energy, effort and encouragement, and finding acceptance even when things are not perfect,

Contentment has paved the way for so many opportunities, as well as reduces our level of stress, improves our outlook, and helps us to be relaxed, providing an enjoyable life, coming with an unmistakable freedom, a freedom of being who we are, enjoying who we are, and living a life we were destined to live.

Contentment can be learnt with the following ways:

  1. Practicing Gratitude. It is impossible to develop contentment without gratitude—they are inseparable, because a grateful person is one who has learned to focus on the good things in their life, not the things they lack. This simple discipline will undoubtedly shift our focus back to the many good things we already have.

  2. Stop comparing ourselves to others. Comparison brings about low self esteem, so comparing our life with others will always lead to discontentment. We should have the understanding that there will always be people who appear to be better off than us and seemingly living the perfect life. Their life is never as perfect as our mind displays it to be, we are unique, we are special, our life is different and it’s always better that way. We ought to stop comparing ourselves to others.

  3. Be content with what you have, never with what you are. Never stop learning, growing, or discovering. Learn to take pride in our personhood and the progress that we have made, but never become so content that we cannot find room for improvement. Contentment is not the same as complacency, because as soon as we stop growing, we start dying.

If you are not comfortable with the situation around our lives, we ought to work tirelessly and positively to change the situation, that is the only way out.

Learn contentment and stay happy everyday, what we don't have today doesn't mean we won't have it tomorrow, it just requires patience and hard work.

Thank you for reading to the end.
