He decidido comenzar a leer más libros, así que habrá más reseñas de mi parte. En esta ocasión es una novela realizada por un autor peruano, Rafael Dumett. El libro se supone es el primero de una saga entorno a un personaje histórico peruano, que tuvo su impacto por la mitad del siglo XX. Fue publicado el 2023.

I have decided to start reading more books, so there will be more reviews from me. This time it is a novel by a Peruvian author, Rafael Dumett. The book is supposed to be the first of a saga around a Peruvian historical character, who had his impact around the middle of the 20th century. It was published in 2023.

Sinopsis: Eudocio Ravines fue un político, escritor y periodista peruano. En su vida pasará de ser alguien asociado al comunismo, siendo dirigente del Partido Comunista Peruano, a desengañarse de esa ideología y volverse un gran crítico a nivel internacional. En esta primera parte de una saga que narra su vida, veremos su infancia en Cajamarca, región peruana. En donde su tío Belisario Ravines es el prefecto. Tanto su tío como varios hechos que ocurren en esa primera etapa de su vida, marcaran su pensar y personalidad para el futuro.

Synopsis: Eudocio Ravines was a Peruvian politician, writer and journalist. In his life he will go from being someone associated with communism, being a leader of the Peruvian Communist Party, to becoming disenchanted with that ideology and becoming a great critic at an international level. In this first part of a saga that narrates his life, we will see his childhood in Cajamarca, a Peruvian region. Where his uncle Belisario Ravines is the prefect. Both his uncle and several events that occur in that first stage of his life, will mark his thinking and personality for the future.

Es una novela que si bien muestra esa etapa de la vida de Eudocio(Shito), nos permite conocer una Cajamarca rural, con sus propias creencias y problemáticas. A su vez, el protagonista sufrirá con la pobreza, por lo cual usará diversas rutas para evitar ser arrastrada por ella, como su prodigiosa memoria.

It is a novel that although it shows that stage of Eudocio's (Shito) life, it allows us to know a rural Cajamarca, with its own beliefs and problems. At the same time, the protagonist will suffer with poverty, so he will use various routes to avoid being dragged down by it, such as his prodigious memory.

En el transcurso sabremos mucho de su vida familiar y de los problemas de la zona, especialmente relacionados con los hacendados; en ello, una tragedia nacional que sacudirá su vida y su percepción de lo correcto e incorrecto. Tiene varios momentos dramáticos.

Along the way we will learn a lot about his family life and the problems of the area, especially related to the landowners; in it, a national tragedy that will shake his life and his perception of right and wrong. It has several dramatic moments.

Es un libro que si bien a veces juega con los tiempos, no acaba siendo difícil de leer, tal vez el mayor problema es que algunos misterios no acaban siendo respondidos. Es interesante el símil que desarrolla de “La vida de Jesús” de Ernest Renan con la vida del joven Eudocio.

It is a book that although sometimes plays with the times, it does not end up being difficult to read, perhaps the biggest problem is that some mysteries do not end up being answered. It is interesting the simile that develops of “The life of Jesus” by Ernest Renan with the life of the young Eudocio.

Es interesante conocer a nuestro protagonista que irá desarrollando sus ideas, adquiridas vía lectura de libros, relaciones familiares y con los eventos que ocurren en su vida. Recomendable si te interesa el personaje, o conocer una Cajamarca de inicios del siglo XX.
