Day 5 - A Public Spot I Enjoy
Greetings hivers
Ibom Christmas Village
If you could spend a full day in one public place, where would it prefer?
Here’s mine: Unity Park, generally known as Ibom Christmas Village— a vibrant blend of culture, comfort, fun and nature.
The Heart of Uyo
Though many know it as “Uyo Christmas Village” during the holidays, Unity Park is a public treasure open all year round.
It’s not just a park — it’s a living experience.
You’ll find:
*Bukas and food stalls serving fresh local meals
A performance stage for concerts and cultural shows
A mini-museum showcasing heritage
Horse rides during festive seasons
A football field for sports lovers and other sports like skaters and BMXing
Iconic art spots like the giant spider web and the Hangover booth
Trees that shade every path, and seats under them
Flowers that add beauty to every frame, etc
A Memory That Stuck With Me
One of my favorite visits was when I explored the "Ibom museum" with a close friend. We took our time looking through exhibits that told stories of culture, origin, and the uniqueness of Akwa Ibom and Nigeria at large. It wasn’t just educational and adventurous— it was a moment of connection, reflection, and pride.
That day, Unity Park wasn’t just scenery — it became a memory.
Unity Park remains a perfect spot to recharge, reconnect, and rediscover the joy of public life in Uyo.
Whether you’re there to unwind or explore, it always has something to offer.
During the festive season, this Park turns into a village. Why? People from all areas of the state and some part of the country, would come here to enjoy the events which takes place for weeks—before, during and after the festive period. All sorts of games, foods, literally everything would be here.
When you have to look at all these places and all you see is people, with their friends, families or loved ones having fun, eating and connecting together. You don't want to miss your partner during this time, lol.
