Try and see
Over the years, I've heard a lot of myths and crazy traditional beliefs, some of which sound very true and sometimes scary, while some just sound ridiculous. Thankfully, the majority of them has been nothing but lies, stories that were meant to scare kids into not doing certain things but ended up getting passed from generation to generations.
Say a lie long enough and it begins to look like the truth.
Sadly I don't remember many of these stories because as an adult, I no longer believe in them. But if there's one that I do remember that was very popular back in the day, it was that no one should walk over you (or cross over your legs) when you're lying down on the floor, because apparently, doing that would make you grow short.
I remember how I and my friend would always ask someone to cross over us again if they did it the first time, because it was also believed that in order to reverse the curse of being crossed the first time, the person who did it had to do it again in a bid to reverse the curse.. It was silly I know, but back then, it was a huge deal...I mean there were times where we fought just because someone crossed over us and refused to cross back for the second time.
Anyways, what actually inspired today's blogs is due to the fact that for the first time in my life, I think I can boldly say that not all myths (I honestly don't know if this qualifies as a myth) are false.
You see few years ago, someone told me that if ever there was a time I felt pain on my eyes (which usually is signs that I'm about to have stye a.k.a boil, on there), that I should look for a single eyelash closest to where the pain is and yank it off...the moment I do that, the stye would automatically heal on its own without getting swollen first like it normally does.
And I know that sounds painful and unnecessary, but trust me when I say it works. I've been doing it for years now and there never have been a time it disappointed me. I guess at the end of the day, not all stories about things like this are false, we just have to give it a try first and see.
There were so many of those myths back then. One that terrified me was that if you swallowed a seed, the tree would grow up your belly. Kai! Those were times.
Yeah I remember this one too 😂😂😂.. Those were crazy days.
Hehe. Indeed there are lots of myth and people believe it blindly. But sometimes but sometimes myth also works if you believe it strongly. It's not the power of myth. It's the power of strong beliefs.
I honestly don't know about the power of belief, I just feel that some of those myths are truth.. There are just a lot of fake ones out there overshadowing the ones which are true.
