There is more to music

During my first year in school, almost every morning when I woke up early to get ready for school, I would always hear this neighbor of mine playing this one particular song, and it was a song that was some sort of motivation for young hustlers. So every morning when I got up, I would hear him play it, and he played it so much that I found myself knowing each bit of the lyrics to a song I didn't even have on my song.

But that wasn't the only thing that happened to me. You see, ever since then, whenever I hear anyone play that song, I immediately get reminded of that neighbor, my first year in school, and how I would always wake up early to go to either class or exams. It gives me this nostalgic feeling of being a freshman and struggling to survive.

It's something I like to remember now and then because it helps me to appreciate how far I've come. But you see, ever since I started to feel this way whenever I hear that song, I got to realize why people are always particular about songs they play for them in important events like their weddings, so that even after that wedding, whenever they hear that song being played anywhere, they immediately get reminded about one of the best moments of their lives.

And that is what I want to start doing now. I want to make a habit of marking every (or at least most) good moment of my life with a song, because for someone with bad memories like myself, I find that I tend to remember clearly using this method.

I'm actually trying to set one up right now. I haven't picked a song yet, but I plan on waking up at least at 7am every day for more than two weeks, playing one particular song, and making sure my neighbors listen to it too. That way, I don't get to be the only one feeling nostalgic when we all eventually leave this place and hear the song playing randomly somewhere.
