Living in the Now

It's currently that time of the year at my school where the students are currently writing their exams, so during the day my hostel always feels like a cemetery because there's barely anyone at home. So what I do is that whenever I'm feeling like I can't bare the torture of being home alone, I take a walk in school and I just find a cool spot to sit and just watch students run up and down, trying to get to their exam hall on time.

It is always relaxing for me whenever I see them doing that because it takes me back to when I was a student and would run like that so that I could get a good spot to sit in the hall.

Anyways, during one of those walks, a friend of mine who also is currently writing exams had offered to come join me after his paper that day. The idea was to wait for him somewhere and then we both would continue the walk together.

When he eventually came, he had said something to me that sort of put a smile on my face because it was a statement I was very familiar with. He said that on his way here, he had met another friends of ours and had told him of our plans to take a walk and that friend had told him how important that walk is, not because of the exercise but because very soon we all would leave the school environment and there will be times where we would wish we could come back to take a walk.

Basically what he was saying was that we have to take it all in now because we won't always be around to take that walk in the same school.

The reason I said I was familiar with that statement is because I've been saying it for a long time now that we all have to live in the moment and enjoy it, and luckily for me, I'm conscious enough to feel nostalgia even while it's happening.

That way I get to enjoy things twice, the current time it's happening and the next time when I will be thinking of when it happened.

I am those people. Not stopping for that little enjoyment in life. Because whenever I do, I somehow actually lag behind. Probably I'll never get to enjoy life like those people who always enjoy their lives and never miss this hangout or that party, while also keeping their grades in check. I quite envy them.

Hmm. When you see others doing the same thing that you used to do in the past can make you remember about it easily. You may miss those moments but you can't be stuck there because it's already past. You need to live on reality.
