High-school Sweetheart

I was reading through the posts about friends we've lost contact with and someone actually wrote about their childhood sweetheart which kinda brought back memories for me because I too had a sweetheart once that I lost contact with, so I've decided to tell you guys my story about my high school sweetheart.

You see there used to be this girl I was in love with in High-school and I believed she loved me too. We were seat partners and did almost everything together. Even though we were young, we knew we were in love and to us back then, sitting next to each other was all the love language we needed.

Unfortunately, I had to leave school for a year and went to learn a skill because my dad happens to be the kind of man who knows that going to school alone isn't just enough, you need to have a skill too. So I learnt a skill for a year and when I got back to school, she was no where to be found.

It turned out she had left the school too and for a while, it seemed like that was the end of it. Until one day when I dreamed of her. The dream felt so realistic that when I woke up, I couldn't get her off my mind. So I contacted every of my High-school friends (we were done with High-school at this point) and asked them to help me get her number.

Surprisingly, someone had her number and gave it to me and for a moment I felt like I was in High-school again. I contacted her and it turned out she was in another state studying medicine and our chances of seeing was very slim due to the distance. That didn't stop me from chatting with her almost everyday though, but as time went on, reality started to set in and I soon came to the realization that high school was gone and I needed to move on with life, it was time to forget about high school and focus on real life.

For a minute it felt really sad because even though I reunited with my high school sweetheart online, we will never be together. But I've soon realize that not every perfect friendship has to be turned into a romantic relationship, we can be best of friends and still be happy and that is what we are, best of friends.
