A Raining Morning

It's day 15 in this camp, and for the first time since I got here, it rained tonight. You see, my camp happens to be located in a state where it likes to rain regularly, and for some reason it hasn't rained since we got here, and I was excited about that.

Because the last thing any one of us wants is having to parade under the rain while putting on our white top, white shorts, white socks, and white shoes. And seeing how that is the only dress code (other than the other officer khaki) allowed in this camp, that automatically makes us an enemy to rain or anything that could cause a messy environment.

Well, I had woken up this morning later than usual; I had woken up by 3am rather than the usual 2am I normally wake up. And if I'm being honest with you, the only reason I had even gotten up by that time was because I had wanted to close the windows shut, due to the fact that I was freezing from the cold breeze coming in.

The moment I saw what the time was, I had gotten up and made the stupid decision to go have my bath. That single decision alone almost killed me because one minute I was in Nigeria, and the next minute I was somewhere in Antarctica; I almost froze to death.

Luckily for me, that didn't happen, and I got dressed up, hoping it would be business as usual, but surprisingly, the military men and women who usually come to our room by 4am every day to chase us to the parade ground decided to take a different approach today. It's currently 5am, and we're all still at the hostel, with no sign of them anywhere.

I'm curious to see how today's weather will affect today's activities, but at the same time I really just wish they would give us the day off and just let us go back to bed because this is the perfect weather for it.
