Uncovering the secrets of Greenpath | Hollow Knight

Hello, gamers. Welcome back to my blog.

On our adventure to dig out the hidden secrets of the Hollownest, we had to pass through a lively and lush green path trodden with bugs and enemies throughout the area.

In my previous session, I talked about how I entered the Greenpath which seems to be the third section we have unlocked after Dirtmouth and Forgotten Crossroads. With each section, you have to buy a separate map from Cornifer the Cartographer and you have to find him in the area, he will be somewhere in the area trying to chart out the map and he will sell us an incomplete map for a fair amount of money.

Fortunately for me, I found him easily. You can find him by following the paper trails when you get close to him. He is always in a good mood, humming a song.

He gave me a map for just 60 Geo. It looked like narrow tunnels but this is only the path he has finished mapping and I still have to fill the entire area by going in every possible path.

Some ledges were too high to jump so I am guessing I might have to come back here again after I get better movement abilities like a high jump or something?

Anyways, close to Cornifer's area, there was another room just next to it. This one was not like other rooms and was a bit darker than the rest of the area. After moving through a dark area you will come across a new creature called "The Hunter".

Hunter gave me a journal where I can see the names of all the names of bugs and enemies that I have killed on my journey. I've always wanted something like that and now I got it. I love the fact that almost everything is found in the game itself be that map, new abilities, charms or journals.

There were many Husk variants in the Forgotten Crossroads. If you kill enough of a specific enemy there will be more insights available with their record in the Journal.

Moving on further south, I heard a noise coming from a trapped Grub. I broke the vessel which was trapping him in and I can go back to their father in the Forgotten Crossroad to get some reward.

Right when I came out of the room I saw another Knight. I recognised it from the new Hollow Knight Silksong trailer where she is a playable character. I wonder if I can play with her in this game as well, maybe just for some time? She escaped to a far-off ledge and I could not jump that far to go after her.

I took a few more confusing paths, it was a web of paths going in all directions and I had to take one only which often leads to more ways to traverse. So, it will take a lot of backtracking and map-making in my mind.

Deadly Fog Canyon

I reached a new section of Hollownest called the Fog Canyon. This was filled with jellyfish-like structures that can be very deadly. The smaller ones can be killed easily but when you try to kill the large ones they had an explosive core which comes after you and creates a huge explosion. It takes 2 mask damage which can be very deadly.

The main room was a big vertical one filled with that jelly-like growth and it had rooms on both sides which seems to be inaccessible at the current time. In the left room, there was a big pool of deadly water and in the opposite room, there is a black barrier which I can't cross over.

Fog Canyon is one of the most dangerous places to travel through, filled with a deadly pool of water, those jellyfish-like creatures, thorns and other environmental hazards. I was very careful and so I was pleased to enter a room with none of those.

Millibelle, the Banker

It was another NPC named MilliBelle, the Banker. She wanted me to open up an account with her for like 100 Geo so did I thinking it would be like a shop where I can buy some cool stuff but it was just a normal bank where I can deposit my money and withdraw it. This was just to make sure I don't lose all the money when I die. But I only had like 500 and I did not use this service. In hindsight, opening an account looked like a bad decision costing me money.

Into the Queen's Station

I saw some signs indicating a Stag station is nearby so I went there. I found Quirrel there who is also on a journey to figure out the secrets of Hollownest like me.

I saw another piece of what looked like a Mask Shard, it was locked behind an iron door and there was no way to climb from the other side. I can see a leaver on the other side but have no idea how can I get there. Perhaps I need to come here from the right side and this room is connected to another section of the map as well.

I unlocked the stag station and went back up to the Greenpath to explore more. There were still tons of uncharted territory there and I had a map too so it was worth exploring.

Back to Killing more enemies

I fought many small bugs along the way but two of them were fairly unique and big. One of them is called the Massive Moss Charger. They just come out from the ground on one of the longer platforms. They are super easy to kill though, just terrifying on the outside when you first encounter them.

After you first encounter them, it will be super easy to kill. You can jump over them when they come charging at you or simply just strike them with your nails. Sometimes they change their attack pattern and will jump just before they are near you. I recorded one of the encounters and uploaded it on youtube. Watch me defeat it easily.

Another terrifying enemy was a tall knight. He had a shield and a long sword in his hands. He kept blocking my hits easily with his sword. And attacked me brutally. I was in my very last health when I killed him. Here is another video for you.

I am having fun exploring and fighting all the different creatures in the Greenpath. I love the aesthetics and the level of design too. Will be sharing more about my encounters with you.
