StakeHouse Den: Lady Luck Turns Away

It is time for an update post on my StakeHouse Den's journey. StakeHouse Den, as you might know, is a play2earn casino game on Hive where you can stake cards, generate a token and then use it to play casino games like Blackjack, Slots or Roulette. This is the only web3 game that I currently play on Hive. All the others are just non-web3 games. Out of all three casino-themed games in StakeHouse Den, I love Blackjack the most and spend the most resources on that game.

It is not a free-to-play game, though; you need to stake cards, which can be bought individually from the market or acquired by opening packs. I bought a few packs a couple of months ago and staked many of the cards that I got from those packs. Staking cards will generate the currency called Hotsauce, which can be used to play those casino games. This is what matters the most. Your Hotsauce generation will directly affect how many Colony tokens you can earn from this game. Also, staking Colony tokens increases the rewards you get after winning each round.

New UI changes

The first thing I noticed after logging in to my account was the new UI change and the streak system, which gives you free Hotsauce. I didn't know about this new change, or I would have been collecting these free tokens.

I also liked the new token window, which provides a page of our stats, like Hotsauce collected, and other token balances. This was a necessary change because seeing how many colony tokens you staked was not so simple; you had to go out of the game before. But now it can be seen on this one screen.

The Refrigerator page has been renamed to Fridge, but the page didn't seem to have changed much. I claimed all of my 382 Hotsauce that were slowly generating for the past couple of weeks.

Playing Blackjack

It was time to start playing these games and see how fast I can lose all of these Hotsauce xD. I usually spend most of it playing Blackjack, as I have been a bit extra lucky at that so far.

I didn't want to spend all of 400-ish Hotsauce at once, so I started with 70 Hotsauce bids per round.

The first round was lucky for me. I stayed at 18 hands and the dealer busted, giving me a nice start for the day.

I won a handy 0.46 Colony token. My staking factor is 1.21 only, and with a 70 Hotsauce bet, this is all I can win per round.

In the second round, I got a 2 and a 4 to start with. With this low hand, I hit a couple of times, and it just got me a 16. That's one of the worst hands, in my opinion. Not low enough to hit and not high enough to stay here, and hoping to win. I should have stayed, but I went for the hit and got busted.

In the next round, I lost at 18 as well. The dealer got a perfect 21 and beat me easily. I was a bit more hopeful at 18. The next round was even worse; I had a total of 15, so I hit and got busted again.

Seems like the first round was the only round I was supposed to win today.

I went for the last bet with 50 Hot Sauce. I was sick of losing all of it on unlucky hands. But my luck had run out today. I stayed at 18 again but lost at a solid 20. That was the worst day for Blackjack for me so far. Winning just one round and losing the next 4-5 rounds in a row.

I won only 0.46 Colony tokens today from Blackjack. I still had more Hotsauce, which I decided to gamble on Roulette next.

Playing Roulette

I wasn't feeling lucky today, but I still went for a wild spin, gambling away 10 Hotsauce on #21. That was nothing more than wishful thinking on my behalf. I wasn't expecting it to win, but I still went for it for some reason.

I came back to my senses and this time put 20 chips on the red colour. This is more likely to be a success. Almost 50% chance of winning this bet. But nope, the ball stopped at "00" and I lost that bet too.

Looks like this day has gone from bad to worse. For the final spin, I went for the red colour again with 20 chips bet.

After a long drought, I won a round.

After playing these three rounds, I was left with about 30 Hotsauce only. If I were going to gamble away all. I'd better do it in slots where I can get the jackpot and maybe recover some of the missed wins' rewards?

Playing Slots

I wanted to spin about 10 times, so I put it on automatic spin with 3 Hotsauce bits each round. I like watching these spins. In the past, this game was the worst performer for me, and Blackjack was the best. But today, Blackjack didn't do anything... maybe my luck will be better at slots. That's what I was thinking, and I was kinda right.

I won the very first round with a x5 win and then won another round, this time with a massive x15 win. That's the best spin I've had so far in this game across all the sessions.

If you leave this last winning, today was an unlucky day for me. I lost too many rounds of Blackjack. Slots tried to cheer me up at the end, but it was too little too late.

I liked the new UI changes, and it is a step towards the right direction. The new streak mechanic was good to know. I will try to collect them daily from now on. I can't believe I had been missing out on free Hotsauce for some days.
