Sisters of the Void Ending in Hollow Knight: Silksong

The first game in the series, Hollow Knight, had multiple endings with varying levels of difficulty. Everyone was expecting the same from Hollow Knight: Silksong, and Team Cherry delivered on this expectation. There are multiple endings to the game. I completed most of them. The ending, which is termed as the True ending by some fans, is the "Sisters of the Void" Ending.

There is a secret third Act in the game where you save the kingdom of Pharloom from the clutches of the Void. Hornet has to dive into the Void Lake at the bottom of the Abyss and fight the final boss, the Lost Lace.

This is one of the toughest fights in the game and rightly so... this is supposed to be the hardest ending to achieve.

Lost Lace

We are already somewhat familiar with Lace's move set and attacks. This is the third time we fight Lace, and each time she is stronger than the last. This time, she is corrupted with the strength of the void, and there are a lot more attacks she does.

Grandmother Silk is trying to protect Lace, which was a surprise to many. She created this safe arena inside the Void Lake using her Silk. There are at least three different phases in this boss fight. Lost Lace has the most amount of health of any boss in this game.

The first phase is the easiest of them all. The game gives you this easy phase so you can get familiar with the basic voidless attacks of Lace.

Hornet's ability to heal mid-air makes this phase a lot easier. She can wall climb and do a double jump to get out of range of Lace's attacks and safely heal. I used this to my advantage by equipping the charm, which gives me an additional mask when healing. This guaranteed heal in the first round is such a blessing.

In the second phase, she becomes faster and has more attacks. Void tendrils are coming out of the ground. She has two more ranged attacks involving void. Despite more attacks, it is still easy to heal. Only one of the attacks can disrupt the healing process in this phase.

My strategy was to save up my tools for the third and last phase. That third phase is pure chaos. There, I would just spam it with my tools and hope for the best. Trying to be more defensive in the third phase is a good strategy because Lace is very fast and can perform a lot of needle combos. So, it is best to maintain some distance and play defensively.

With cogflies swarming and Lace’s void tendrils filling the screen, it becomes hard to even see what’s happening in this final phase.

But if you have saved up your tools and used poison effect on them, this phase won't last long. Also, saving your cocoon at the end to get that extra silk works as well.

Once you defeat the void out of Lace, she falls to the ground. Grandmother Silk gives all her silk to Hornet so she can jump out of here with Lace. But despite that silk, she can't get out of the Void, and her Everbloom, which was protecting her against the void, fades away.

This is where we see the Knight from the first game. Hornet saw him moments before she fainted. We were saved by the Knight!

This was a big surprise. In the first game, Hornet helped the shade defeat Radiance, and now she was helped by the shade.

The void retreats as both Lace and Hornet saw each other. Pharloom might have been saved, but it is not clear what happened to all the bugs in this kingdom. Is everyone safe? Can we get a DLC where we can go back and talk to all the different NPCs after this fight and see how everyone is doing? This game has made us care for all the NPCs living in here. Each of them was made with love.

I liked the final fight as well, and that final cutscene with the Shade saving us. It was such an unexpected ending. I love it.
