Revisiting Hollow Knight to Prepare for Silksong
Hello and welcome back to my blog!
Hollow Knight: Silksong is releasing after a long wait on September 4th this year, and I am super excited to play it. I am a big fan of the Hollow Knight game and have played it a few times already. For those who still haven't played the original Hollow Knight, you should seriously consider giving it a chance, even if you are not a fan of Metroidvania.
I can wait for the Silksong release, the sequel to Hollow Knight, so I decided to play Hollow Knight again.
Beating the Radiance
I had 3 save files already, one of them is at 110% completion, just 2% completion away from achieving everything in the game, but that extra 2% is such a tough ask. To get back to the groove, I decided to beat the secret final boss of the game, the Radiance.
This is one of the toughest boss fights in the game, and it took me multiple tries to beat it with the most powerful setup and every ability and spell.
I remember when I first played this game, I killed the Hollow Knight and thought the game was over, but my completion percentage was like 70%. I went on and killed more hidden bosses, etc, and still I couldn't get to 100% completion, so I looked up on the wiki what the final boss of the game and it surprised me to see a boss name that I had never seen.
I was not that good at the game that time, and this beat the hell out of me, made me frustrated, and I quit after trying for a few sessions. I recently killed Radiance for the first time, and it felt like a big relief. Afterwards, I killed it multiple times just to take my revenge xD.
Starting a New Run
I still had many achievements left to do, and I wanted to get the joy of hunting those achievements from a fresh run. So, I started a new run today. In this save file, I pledge to complete the game no matter how long it takes and to get all the achievements. But I believe that there are mutually exclusive achievements which can take multiple runs. Anyways, to remove the confusion, I decided to wipe clean my Steam achievements and start it fresh. This time, I will keep a better track of all the achievements.
I never cared about them until now.
I killed the Gruz Mother and False Knight quickly to get the Vengeful Spirit spell so I could go to the Greenpath and fight Hornet.
There, I performed a skip, which allowed me to get to the Hornet fight easily. It is crazy to think that we are fighting Hornet, and we will be playing as Hornet in a few days. Her moves are slick, and the Silksong trailer and demo show a much more complex movement set than the knight's.
Shortly before this fight, I faced my first dilemma: whether to save Zote or not. I decided to save him in this save file, and I have to do another run and not save him in there to get both the mutually exclusive achievements.
The game is so beautiful that playing it again is still enjoyable. The music when you go into the Greenpath is so well done. Before that, you see a mostly grey colour and a very dull atmosphere, thinking this will be the game's theme. But then you enter this lush green paradise, and you are hit with an amazing soundtrack. This was one of the first few moments which made me realise how good a game this is.
You will see an interesting thing in the Lake of the Unn side of the Greenpath. A MossKnight is standing on the platform looking at the lake. You know the game is goated when even the enemies are admiring its beauty with you. LOL
Can't wait to play Hollow Knight Silksong! Tell me your plans about HK Silksong in the comments below.

I really like the aesthetics of Hollow Knight, even though I haven't actually played it, I've seen several art posts that are inspired by the game.
Its music and art is superb.
