My Best and Worst Isaac Runs, One After the Other

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

The Binding of Isaac has a variety of endings, depending on multiple factors. Sometimes it depends on which bosses you killed in your runs, if you encountered bosses like Mega Satan or if you killed a specific boss some 'x' number of times. I unlocked a few more endings since I last talked about the game.

In one of them, when Isaac opened the golden chest, he found a rope, and in the next frame, we see him hanging from it. Ouch! There are more bad endings where he finds himself in a bad situation than the good endings.

I had a very successful run with Magdalene, where I got items like Head of Krampus, which can clear the bosses easily. And since she starts with a lot of red hearts, it gets easy in the sacrifice room. This helped me get a lot of Angel rooms that gave me good stuff, and if you kill angels, it gives you a piece of key that helps unlock a special room on the Dark Room floor where you fight the Mega Satan.

It was a long run too, over an hour long. I unlocked every secret room possible and was never short of coins, keys, or bombs. Sometimes the synergy between your items is so good that it just never lets you run out of those key items.

I reached the Dark room, which is a floor filled with boss fights after boss fights in every room. Since I was dealing enough damage and had a lot of hearts with good defensive items like the halo effect around me, it didn't seem too bad.

The boss's room on this floor had "The Lamb" in it. I am starting to think that this boss is fixed for this floor. I have seen it enough times. Maybe after beating it a few more times, it will have a stronger variant?

Once I defeated it, the game asked me if I wanted to do a "victory lap", which is simply restarting the run with the first floor but having all your power-ups and stats upgrades. I was cool with it. Why don't I want to clear rooms in less than a couple of seconds? Seemed fun.

It was time to traumatise more angels. I am starting to think that I am getting those evil endings just because I keep harassing these Angels in almost all my runs. I should leave them alone in some runs to see if I get a different ending or not.

I noticed that there was a blood mark on my paper in this run. This probably indicates that it is the Victory lap run, or perhaps it means the rooms are more challenging this time around?

I fought the "Mom's Heart" and beat it once more. It is a fun fight with a lot of things happening. Smaller enemies that shoot lasers at you while the heart constantly beats in the top centre of the arena, throwing bullets and other projectiles. With my overpowered setup, it was never a fair fight lol.

At this point, I had around five or six familiars doing different things to help me. My bullet size was huge and dealt a lot of damage, while my defence was very strong. I didn't even take a single heart of damage during this fight, even though I had a full 12 hearts. Once I defeated it, I saw the big golden chest and picked it up to end the run. I wanted to see which ending I get. But I was disappointed to see the ending, which I already got a few days ago. Maybe this is linked to killing Mom's heart?

I tried some tough challenges to see if I could get lucky early on with some good items, but nope. I was trying to complete the "Solar System" challenge, where you are blindfolded so you can deal no bullet/tear damage, and only the little flies hovering around you can deal damage to the enemies.

I don't remember the names of the items; there are too many of them to remember, haha. I know just a few of them by heart because they are so, so good. And I was hoping to get one of those good items at the start of the challenge to make the run doable with those constraints.

With my bad luck, I was getting stupid items that were linked to shooting, and I couldn't shoot in this run. For example, this "Rotten Baby" that spawns blue fly when Isaac shoots, but the issue was that I could not shoot a single tear in this run. Just my luck.

I even got the best damage-dealing item as a devil deal in the Devil Room, the Brimstone. But I couldn't even use it. That's some luck, I guess.

All those dead angels are cursing me together in this run.

When I thought that it couldn't go worse than that. I was met with the Horseman boss, who is one of the most annoying bosses in the game for me. It is tanky and moves quickly. I held on for a long time, but eventually this was my end. Those angels must be laughing at this fate. I will be back to get my revenge soon.

I love the Death screen where Isaac writes a diary entry every time we die. This time we were just a piece of shit with some flies hovering over it haha.

There are a lot of challenges left. I was only able to complete the first few and Challenge 16, which was very easy.

Until next time...

I watched a friend of mine play this and thought it looked pretty fun but it was actually more fun for me to watch than it was for me to play. I believe his final battle was where a high heel keeps coming out of the ceiling to try to crush you and I am presuming that is the "mom's heart" one.

Ah, that one is Mom' foot or simply called "Mom", it is the final one in the early game. But once you beat it there are more harder floors after it... Mom's Heart is just a big heart in the middle of the area with no heels.

Also, in later stages that Mom's heal can come in random rooms. It has so much content after that too.

I'll have to talk to my friend about that as that is as far as I have ever seen the game go.

Another great write-up. The way you described the Solar System challenge made me feel your frustration, especially getting the Brimstone with no way to use it.

The part about angels cursing you had me laughing. Maybe give them a break next time and see what ending you get.

Yeah, every time I think of not destroying them but what can I do they have some cool item with them. And they are easy too. 😂

Uff the battle against the lamb is really a challenge or at least that's what I remember happened to me the first time I fought against that boss, I remember watching many gameplays of Rich MC at the time then I spent several hours but ahce relatively recently I bought it but it's great because it's a game that never goes out of fashion.
