Gaming Photography Challenge: My Best Picks!

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

This Week's Contest theme by the Gaming Photography Community is Your Best Picks. It's been a long time since I joined this contest. When I saw this theme, I knew that I had some perfect pictures for this contest. Lately, I have started playing one of the games that I wanted to play for so long, Horizon Zero Dawn, and this is one of the most visually stunning games I have played so far.

Naturally, it has a lot of beautiful things to capture, ranging from wild nature to futuristic machines that roam in its world.

It has a feature-rich photo mode where I spent a lot of time. The first thing I wanted to showcase is how this game blends primitive tools like bows and arrows with futuristic machines. They are all aggressive, but you can hack some of them and use them as your ride.

The terrain is impressive, ranging from lush green fields to snowy peaks. The weather system is very dynamic, too.

Signs of a long-lost modern civilisation are everywhere.

Seems like some folks survived those catastrophic events and started living in smaller tribes. They used whatever they found to rebuild a world filled with deadly machines and warring tribes.

I love to hunt these machines. There are a lot of different varieties of them, with most having some weak points that can be targeted to take them down easily.

I have been playing with the Photo Mode a lot, and it was good to see a feature-rich mode; it should be a must for any modern game with this beautiful graphics. We have a lot of poses for the main character, Aloy. I love this next shot, one of my favourites.

The long red grass where you can hide reminds me of Ghost of Tsushima's white Pampas grass. They look quite different but behave similarly, and the game mechanics developed around it is very similar.

This makes stealth an interesting choice. You can even take down small to medium machines with stealth.

A dynamic day-night cycle makes it even more beautiful.

Colours are absolutely gorgeous. Playing it on my 2K monitor is really satisfying. My 3060 runs it pretty smoothly, too.

One of the most planned shots, which took me some time, was this giraffe machine (I call it that because of how tall it is, but it has a different name). I don't like the lens flare in games, but putting it on in this one was a deliberate attempt. I think it turned out well. Right?

This is how the world looks from the top of its flat mouth. It is some kind of a moving tower, which is like a local outpost for signals. Going up and hacking it reveals the map of the local area. That is such a cool concept. It was the only friendly moving machine that I found in these wilds.

Such a beautiful game with a nice story. I will talk about other things in a separate post, but here are more shots from this game.

I like to take my trophy pictures. This machine was a big one, kind of a flamethrower. Taking it down was not as easy as the other machines.

I will leave you with two more landscape shots from the game. So that you can see how nicely they infused the ruins of the earlier civilisation in this one. How nature is trying to overtake it.

Let me know if you like those shots and which one is your favourite among them. Mine would be a close call between the first shot and that Giraffe machine.

Thanks for reading.

Until next shot...

  • All the content is mine unless otherwise stated.
  • Screenshots are from the game, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered.

The game looks stunning. Normally I am not interested in games set in the future(Mass effect is only exception). But this looks interesting.

Very good photographs. I was very impressed by the truly beautifully designed environments. I would have liked to see some kind of panoramic view if possible.

Her photos are also spectacular, including the archery poses. There are just some where you feel like she's lost in the landscape, and there's no contrast. But overall, very good photos.

I am not sure if the panoramic view is possible. I can make a GIF, but the image quality won't be the same.

There are just some where you feel like she's lost in the landscape

yeah, there are a lot of danger in this world. She has to blend in it well.

I loved all the photos, they’re all really beautiful, but that shot among the yellow flowers is my favorite. It’s absolutely stunning. Best of luck 🍀🍀🍀🍀

Seeing the first images, I thought it was the second installment for the graphics, cause I don't recall the first installment having such good graphics.

It's great to see someone else spending hours in photo mode. Good luck with the contest. @tipu curate 7

Sorry for the late reply.

This is the remastered version. Probably that's why. I heard they improved the graphics further, including the models and their animations. Although this was a modern game and didn't need a remastered version yet xD.
