Capturing the Beauty of Uncharted 4

Hello and Welcome back to my blog!

I wanted to play Uncharted 4: A Thief's End since I watched its trailer for the first time. I remember watching it with a friend and both of us were impressed with its graphics and animation quality. It's been years since that time and I didn't have the right hardware to play it but now that I upgraded my GPU, this was the first new game I installed.

As I expected, the visuals and storytelling are top-notch. I completed half a dozen chapters already and I want to show some of the best shots I took in this game.

This was the best-looking underwater sequence I have played in a video game. At 1440 Ultra, it looked so good. Even though the mission was just a fetch quest, I enjoyed it so much.

I am saying it because I know how difficult it is to simulate water in a game and making it look good is such a big task that many old games used to not even allow swimming in water.

I love a game which gives you the option to go stealthy in your approach and Uncharted 4 gives you that freedom. I try to go for stealth and it works most of the time.

So far the best chapter I liked was Chapter 6: Once a Thief. We were there in a beautiful mansion in Italy to steal an artefact.

It started as a sneaky job to steal the artefact but then at the end, there was a massive commotion and somehow we got through all that. I am using the in-game photo mode and didn't even have to mess with the extra options. The default graphics look so good that I never used the filters and that is coming from someone like me who spends a lot of time taking each shot and making it look perfect.

The night shots were fine as well. However, I loved the day shot the most, especially the buildings and landscapes. I am still satisfied with what I was able to get at night.

We have reached a stage in gaming where the character models are so polished and enhanced that they look so photorealistic. I remember the days when hairs and skin tones were the hardest to simulate but nowadays, they look as good as ever.

You have to love the landscapes the open-world landscape even though the game is not an open-world game. It rather has a very linear approach which only helps the developers put in much more effort to make those landscapes beautiful design every element and place them exactly how they want.

That's probably one of the reasons why this part of the map looks amazing. Even though some parts feel a bit repetitive like the excessive hanging on the ledges and finding your way forward with some superhuman parkour abilities.

This game reminds me a lot of the Tomb Raider series where Lara Croft is looking for ancient artefacts and hidden treasures all around the world. I am not sure if the developers of this game were inspired by that franchise but one thing is clear if you like that you are going to love this one as well. There are many small puzzles in this one as well. You cannot go far without encountering crypts and tombs...right?

I wished the puzzles were a bit more challenging. Maybe they will be as we progress more in the game.?

I am in love with the atmosphere and the graphics of the game. I am going to finish it soon. It should be done before the weekend I think, unless I get stuck on something and lose interest for a couple of days. That has happened to me with the Tomb Raider games in the past.

Let me know if you played this game and if yes, which part of the game you loved the most. Is it the story, the gameplay, graphics and visuals the music or characters and dialogue or perhaps something else?

Thanks for reading...

Until next shot...
