Building Our First House (Inspired by Village Huts)

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

We found a couple of interesting villages in our new Minecraft world. Villagers in the first one had a tough time, and most of them died from freezing in the snow, but the second village was in a better location. On top of a local hill, which was quite flat at the top. That gave us an interesting idea, which was to set up our base here.

Only one small hut was at the top. We took inspiration from the village huts and tried to build a large two-story building. I am not good at building, so I delegated this work to Beril, who went straight into the building mode, taking measurements and making the base. My job was more of a supplier of raw materials.

This was going to be a simple design using cobblestones, oak logs and other things made with oak wood, like staircases, fences, doors or trapdoors. Initially, we ran out of even wood, so we had to chop more trees and even grow some close to us so we don't have to go back to the forest every time.

I liked the use of fences on the walls; it makes an interesting design on the front side of our house. There will be two double doors here.

We were visited by the trader as well. He was there with his two llamas, trying to sell us things like literal dirt and cactus in exchange for valuable emeralds. What a scammer!

While we were working on the house, some stupid villagers were busy with their games. One of them even trapped himself inside the well. He was looking at us with puppy eyes, but we were in no mood to help them. Maybe he is much safer trapped in the well than outside lol.

I went to collect some sand so we can smelt it and have some glass for our windows. Finding it near the river was lucky, and the view from there was amazing.

Our house was coming along well. She kept working hard to build it, and I kept disturbing her like always while supplying some building blocks.

Sunset from the roof looks nice!

And soon we finished this house. I loved the simplistic design and how good it looks while resembling one of the houses from the village, and fitting well here. We got some bees as well.

Added a path that connects us to the village as well. Now we are officially part of the community, I guess. All the others have small huts while we have a big building.

We can see the village from our window. The house still needs some furniture and interior, but it looks good from the outside. We need to put some furniture and light it properly. Doing that at the start of the run is not so easy; we don't want to spam torches on the ground, but can't afford lanterns either.

Can you guess which house is ours from the next shot? It blends so well with the village that it is not easy to distinguish from this point. But the far right on top is ours, it is at the far end, and you can only see the upper floor from here. That's why it looks a bit smaller.

But when I went to the other side of the hill to get some more wood and other blocks, I could see it well. If you pay attention, you can see the roofs of village houses on the right side of our house. This shot rightly points out the scale difference, and our house just stands out.

We need to mine a bit more now. We don't even have iron tools or armour, so fighting mobs is very tough right now. We will be spending some hours deep underground mining for precious minerals. Let's see how lucky we get. Hopefully, we can find some diamonds too.

Thanks for reading.

Until next shot...

Nooo hahaha the post started strong with the death of the villagers by freezing. Although the base is made with simple materials I must say that it is looking very very good, I really love the world you are creating, everything looks very sublime, calm and balanced.

We had to use those simple materials; we didn't even have iron when we started building it. xD
